Here is video from the lockdown. I feel bad for the teacher who had to flee.

Will any of these kids be disciplined?

I’m not supportive of these actions (the student protests, etc.), but I don’t consider the teacher’s actions any less inflammatory than what Susan Sarandon said and did.

In both cases, I’m fine with what they said and did, actually.

But why are the very same people outraged by Sarandon (or celebrating her being cancelled) not outraged by this teacher?

I agree fully. Let's send a riot to Sarandon's house and trap her inside for a few hours.

Exactly. What kind of idiot would not be outraged by the actions of these disgusting students?

The teacher went to a rally and held a sign that said, "I stand with Israel." How in the hell is this "inflammatory?" After they suffered a gruesome terrorist attack at the hand of savages, she stands with Israel.

Sarandon, OTOH, made a tasteless, callous statement.

PP doesn't understand explicit antisemitism? This is what is so scary

People like you are the absolute worst.

You can keep labeling benign statements and views “explicit anti-semitism” until the cows come home, but nobody outside your echo chamber will ever take you serious.

Deeply thankful this Thanksgiving weekend not to have anyone in my life with your worldview.

Sarandon a) was suggesting that Jews did not suffer from anti-semitism before now and b) that she was glad Jews are now scared.

I don’t agree with A or B, but neither of those are things she said.

She said:

“ There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence."

This denies that Jews have been subject to antisemitism before today. That’s what it says. And it heavily implies she thinks it is a good thing Jews are learning this lesson of being afraid.

Personally, I would view that type of statement as “a little tone deaf and kinda insensitive” considering the groups involved and the current climate. I wouldn’t write someone off for that statement alone, until and unless it involved more explicit, inflammatory language. I just don’t find comfort is ascribing specific intent and implications, especially where I don’t see them.

However, I’m not Jewish and I don’t have lived experience as a Jew (although contrary to the thought police here, I do have Jewish friends, including several close ones). Given that, I’ll acknowledge that condemnation from those affected by her statement(s) isn’t unreasonable.

That’s as far as I can go. But I’ll add that the undergirding of my views never involves viewing all Israelis (and their supporters) as villains and all Palestinians (and their supporters) as saints, or vice versa. This IS a complex problem, but the status quo is no way to solve it.

DP. Good grief, the pretzel-twisting you’re engaging in is remarkable. Had she said something similar, but insert a group you feel kinship /empathy with (obviously not Jews), you’d be outraged. Face it: she said something offensive and off-base and the PP who explained exactly why it was offensive and off-base is correct. Sarandon is an absolute idiot.

There are a lot of people afraid of being American at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Russian in this country, so often subjected to violence.

Yeah, nope. Nothing approaching outrage - at all. In fact, nothing. Completely benign statement.

You’re a clown. Identifying yourself as DP literally matters not because you just follow the company line anyway. Censorship, shouting down anyone questioning the actions of the State of Israel as anti-Semitic, rinse and repeat. Again, you’re a clown.

What a complete self-own. Here you are, "shouting down" anyone who disagrees with you by calling them a clown. The rest of your screed is just LWNJ gibberish. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

Why is no-one commenting on this? The only people who have died or been shot at in the IS have been Palestinian Americans.

A 65 yo Jewish man was killed in CA when a pro Hamas protester hit him with a megaphone. The pro Hamas protester has been arrested .There is blood on each side. Let’s wait and see if this is a hate crime. Everyone thought Samantha Will’s murder was a hate crime but then it turned out to be not.

The 65 yo Jewish man's death wasn't some random hate crime, though.

Of course it was random hate crime.

No, it wasn't. It was an altercation that he provoked.

Show me evidence that he provoked it.

He showed up to a rally for Palestine waving an Israel flag.

So if a pro-Palestine activist shows up at a pro-Israel event and is in any way demonstrating support for Palestine, they are fair game for assault?

The young Palestinian men took this picture shortly before they were shot. They were walking to one of the men's grandmother's house for dinner. And some angry wacko saw them and decided to murder them?

Hmm, very low bar for “provoke”. This guy showed up at the pro-Israel march and left alive https://twitter.com/StopAntisemites

Your link doesn't work, but I'm betting the guy is younger than 65 or 69 years old. The suspect's lawyer also said Kessler had been abusive at the rally, and those who know him said he often "spoke his mind". LAPD also ruled out his death being a hate crime.

Just remember this when you argue that the Arab students’ death was not provoked,

Why?

At Cornell, when a mentally ill Chinese American student posted death threats, he was arrested within 24 hours, despite his having used a VPN. The Governor of NY went immediately to Cornell to demand all law enforcement immediate focus on the case.

Last night, 3 Palestinian students were actually shot - not threats- actually shot . Where is the Governor of VT ? Why is the Governor not immediately holding a press conference ? Why isn't Sanders ? This shooting of Arab college students happened while they were headed to dinner at a friend's house in Bernie's home base . Why isn't Bernie holding a presser and demanding FBI find the culprit and immediately declare the hate crime charges ?

Meanwhile, the mentally ill Cornell student, apologized for his posts - prior to his arrest and his mother stated he was mentally ill and yet neither NY Governor or FBI shared that publicly. Why ? Because he was a helpful " poster child" for antisemitism on College campuses and they didn't want anything challenging that narrative getting out

They are actively investigating! They just haven’t personally called you to tell you all about it yet. Give them a hot second!

A man was also shot last week outside a Rhode Island mosque.

I think Jeff posted about it last week. I think it didn’t get much press as police are still investigating.

First of all why do you keep saying Chinese American? What are you trying to prove here? Second, the Governor and Sanders both put out statements. The Cornell student was not arrested within 24 hours, it was an online terror campaign that span several days, calling for Jewish women to be raped and Jewish students to be shot. Also, he is not mentally ill, he has depression. Are you 5?
