I was at two pharmacies and Whole Foods today with full on COVID. I sneezed at least twice in each location.

Omg COME ON. St. B’s in Silver Spring closed (pre covid) because of the flu one year. It’s about the amount of kids/staff sick. It’s not a preventative measure.

I had a relatively mild case of covid and have been suffering horribly for almost a year now with long covid. I am losing hope that I will ever be the same. The coughing is awful and the fatigue is debilitating.

I work in healthcare and probably 2/3 of us are wearing masks at work now.


DP and not one of the anti-mask nutters. I'm so sorry about the long covid, PP. That's what concerns me the most. And the "it's mild! It's nothing but a cold!" people simply refuse to believe in the existence of long covid, I think, or they're so arrogant and ignorant they assume it could never happen to them or anyone they know. And if it doesn't happen to them or someone they know, well, it isn't a real threat in their minds.

My DH's office just yesterday canceled a happy hour farewell gathering for one colleague "out of an abundance of caution" because several people had family members who were positive for covid. It was the smart thing to do and it's the kind of thing I think we'll see more and more of as we move into fall. At least I certainly hope so. People need to realize how much is still not known about the virus and the long-term impacts, and how short-sighted it is to court infection.

Exactly. I’m sure that pp thinks she’s being reasonable, but can you imagine offices cancelling holiday parties whenever some staff have family members with respiratory viruses?

I don't think these people remember life (and accepted risks) pre-covid.

They shutdown for two days. Two days to stop the spread!


They had to shutdown because they did not have enough teachers and subs. So it will happen here if there are not enough adults to teach. It's not about stopping the spread. It's about having so many ill teachers.


It should also be about stopping the spread.

they closed temporarily because they didn’t have enough staff. not because they’re doing a preventative “lockdown”.
