My argument is, and I’m not the PP, three-fold.

1. I will move. Bought a place where I never thought I would; probably the most bougie DC

2. I will never vote the same I would have before seeing the utter — we don’t care about you the well-meaning, law-obiding DC resident — and we especially don’t care about all of our children

3. There is another way, and previously, it had limits, now it doesn’t. Statehood? Oh, I cared. Now I don’t. Peace and safety. Democracy is already guaranteed. The threat to it is not from our young families

Your argument is that instead of expecting the city to enforce the laws passed by our legislators, we should all move?

But even if you moved, you'd be accused of disinvestment. Basically, it's shut up and pay your sky-high taxes for all those violence interrupters (hey, even ATV drivers need a day job).

Other than the self-hating race-bater who lurks on and scats all over the Met DC boards without a single original thought

Worth repeating. Yes, will watch the Ward 1 race.

I’m convinced this traffic law ignoring by the government is a symptom of something far worse and more insidious that is a great peril to us all. And apparently Paul Krugman has some thoughts in the same ballpark:

“America used to seem more advanced than the rest of the world, even rich countries, in many dimensions. But that's no longer true. I love my country; I can't wait to get back. But something is going very wrong in what is still, for the moment, the land of the free”

I hope someone asks ATV-in-DC-defenders about burqas. Oh, you know it’s legitimate cultural expression…

Time to center again

It’s actually very different. It is a different jurisdiction and different type of vehicle.

ATVs and Dirt Bikes operated on street in DC are difficult to regulate due to categorization loopholes with motorized/electric bicycles and policies against police chases.

Laws and policies in Maryland are different and these are motor vehicles in any case.

General public anti-social behavior across the DMV is a totally different topic.

This again? It’s the lack of enforcement. So easy to fix. You won’t like it.

I truly do not understand why you choose to deny reality. The loopholes exist. PP is correct. If you want enforcement then the very first thing to do is close the loopholes.

What loopholes?

Of course, but not even necessary.

It was no chase that stopped any possibility of enforcement

I suggest moving ATV riders to MacArthur Blvd. They already have a flight path so won’t notice. Also then the critics of people opposed to the normal quality of life concerns would have a shot in the dark at hitting an actual nimby with their comments (unlike here). These folks opposed schools and apartment buildings and then lost the only grocery store and got two schools (thankfully, we need schools). They claim they can’t hear the planes because they tune them out. They claim this particularly when trying to sell their houses. So they can’t legitimately complain about ATVs since it can be tuned out, right? There. Problem solved. Let the kids in Ward 1 get a chance in life, starting with some sleep

Anthony Williams endorsed Salah.

Things weren’t great then, but seem like heyday from this vantage point.

Politicians would be well advised to stop pandering to the lowest common denominator and prioritize quality of life for the actual voters.

How many U St-terrorizing ATV riders vote? In DC?

I’m going to ask again? Who do the ATVs and dirt bikes revving at 100dbs/mph serve other than exurbanites driving them? Who?

So why are we having this debate? It’s a net negative. @Bowser build them a park and get them out

I don’t vote in Ward 1, but will watch the race with interest. It might be a litmus test other politicians would be well advised to follow.
