How is it any different than Bezos buying WaPo? Or is Musk just the "wrong kind" of billionaire?
WaPo is a subscription based newspaper that publishes articles salaried reporters research and write.
Not fond of Bezos buying it. At least he’s not as overtly wacko about interfering in it.
No one makes you read Twitter. It's a subscription as well.

It'll be interesting to see what the lowest common denominator is for Musk. Twitter is world-wide and needs to comply with laws and regulations everywhere of risk being banned. He is already being warned by the EU that the wild west free speech position he is known for is probably not acceptable in the EU.

I don’t care if it is public or private but I do care that Twitter reigns in all the outrageous political lies on there before. They only recently got their act more together.
I don’t trust megalomaniac Musk to establish adequate safe guards for Twitter.
Free speech is the opposite of the bedrock of a functioning democracy when popular social media platforms act as unfettered megaphones for populist politicians not held accountable for telling the truth/ advocating race and ethnic based violence/ science misinformation/ hate speech.

We need bipartisan standards for fostering
Truth / fact based opinions
Rational debate not juvenile insults
No hate mongering for any reason
No inviting violence for any reason
Then I would agree Twitter could be important for promoting democracy
