People further up the chain deserve the death penalty. These are still the bottom of the barrel wrt this insurrection.
No one has done a damn thing about those people within the secret service, fbi etc who allowed this to happen.

Not being shot on sight. White Privilege is being presumed innocent until proven guilty. The darker your skin tone, the more guilty you are before being proven guilty, and therefore summary justice is assumed to be acceptable. To some people.
I recall watching it on television. Bunch of treasonous seditionists breaking into the US Capitol, members of Congress fleeing in terror as the rioters tried to overturn the will of the people, looting the core of our democracy, smoking weed, defecating, wrecking offices etc. And at that moment in time I wondered where are the Apaches to blow these people away. If it were BLM protesters or Arabs I'm 100 percent certain the military would have been called in pronto. 1/6 is the very definition of white privilege. MAGA republicans are anti-American scum. They are very fortunate that due process was granted to them.

Now, if you are referring to the Civil War where the southern half wanted to secede, then sure, there is precedent. But, look what happened to the southern seditionists.

I don't. How can you have so little sense of right and wrong as to be conned to the extent that you think that breaking and entering into a government facility is legal? How can you be conned into thinking that you can march into a chamber of the federal government stop elected officials from the procedures that they do after each and every election? How can people be conned that threatening national leadership can be right?
Sorry, but no, the followers know that what they did was wrong, but they did it because they felt that as privileged white people, they have a right to change what doesn't suit their own personal narrative. And that as privileged white people, they don't deserve punishment even when it is breaking federal laws. Laws are for the non-privileged, not for them.
So, no, I don't think that these people deserve sympathy. Lighter sentences perhaps, but they still deserve to be charged, prosecuted and sentenced.
