I don't. How can you have so little sense of right and wrong as to be conned to the extent that you think that breaking and entering into a government facility is legal? How can you be conned into thinking that you can march into a chamber of the federal government stop elected officials from the procedures that they do after each and every election? How can people be conned that threatening national leadership can be right?
Sorry, but no, the followers know that what they did was wrong, but they did it because they felt that as privileged white people, they have a right to change what doesn't suit their own personal narrative. And that as privileged white people, they don't deserve punishment even when it is breaking federal laws. Laws are for the non-privileged, not for them.
So, no, I don't think that these people deserve sympathy. Lighter sentences perhaps, but they still deserve to be charged, prosecuted and sentenced.
