Oooh I like this idea.
Actually - I had a different thought (embarrassing how much I am thinking about this show...)
Kevin will be the one to shake some sense into Deja. She adores Kevin. Kevin will either explicitly say, hey, my first love didn't work out because we weren't ready and she (Sophie) upended her life to revolve around mine. I lost it all - don't make the same mistake I did. Or he will be less explicit and stay with Randall the night before he goes to try to get Sophie back, talk about what happened with them, and the light bulb will go off in Deja's head -- no. She shouldn't do what Sophie did. She'll break it off with Malik, but they too will find their way back to each other and he'll be her partner at Rebecca's deathbed.
this is the way. Sign me up for a writing credit, TIU producers.

It seems to me that he is living at the cabin/house when Rebecca dies, even though he built it for her -- Toby says, "Kevin's house is huge," for example. So if he is not with Madison, how is that working exactly? Does she live nearby? Seems like if he's not with Madison they need to be living in the same city for the twins. Madison could be dead. Or it's possible that's just a second home, but it really seems like his primary residence.

Actually this episode revealed that he does have depth of feeling for Madison, which is nice. I think she's a contender, though I love her with Elijah and do ultimately prefer Sophie for Kevin. I was dying with the "which blonde" remark, omg.

I think what Cassidy told him, about potentially wrecking Madison’s new relationship with Elijah, really hit home for Kevin. He does care about Madison and wants her to be happy. I think that’s why he called Elijah, to give him a tip about how to make Madison happy. I do believe it will be Sophie for Kevin in the end.
Kevin shouldn’t have outed Madison’s eating disorder though. Unless I missed something in the episode.

They're both such special kids and do have a wonderful, if young, relationship. I would insist she finish high school rather than getting a GED though, which she could do in Boston if necessary. Lots of great Boston colleges she could attend too. Not the smoothest prospective path, but I'm with Beth on not risking their relationship. Especially after everything Deja has already been through. She's not a typical sheltered suburban kid, is mature well beyond her years. My focus would be on making sure she's pursuing her own goals, and not giving them up to support Malik's.
Nopeity nope nope. And I think Randall's appeal to Malik at the end is exactly right - if Malik is so impressive then he needs allow Deja to reach her full potential.
Right now, Deja has everything going for her. Deja could be looking at a full ride to any number of prestigious universities. Giving that up for your high school boyfriend and playing second fiddle to him for the rest of your life is a dumb idea.
I think in the end Malik will tell Deja she needs to go out on her own.
