Except Friedson and possibly Albornoz. Friedson is the only reasonable one on the council. Expect the mask mandate to be removed before it takes effect -- Friedson is working on this now. The County Council will convence as the Board of Health on Tuesday, and he'll propose it needs to be 7 days over the limit before the mask mandate comes back on. That seems more reasonable, since we had to wait for 7 days of below the limit for it to be removed.
They aren't going to reinstate it. They should have never removed it but they aren't going to fix their mistake.
They already did.

Vaccines are shown not to be enough given the high vaccination rate. Yes, we can do better.
Why are they not enough? Covid-related deaths are 0-2 per day in MoCo, never higher. Hospitals are not overwhelmed. No one under 18 has died of Covid in MoCo.
Numbers have gone up and its very clear masking helps. Just because a child hasn't died in MoCo, doesn't mean it cannot happen here. Many kids all over the world have died. We have just been fortunate.

They can’t possibly be this off kilter when other states where masks are optional (both red and blue states) are essentially having the same type of success md /MOCO is. I’ve been all over (from NJ, PA, Fla, Ga) in the last 3 weeks, it’s funny how things are looser or stricter…no rhyme or reason.

Masks kept numbers down ore-vaccine. Where is the proof that they are keeping numbers down now. States with lower vaccinated rates AND no masks have very similar curves. At this point the ones getting sick are unvaccinated or otherwise unhealthy to begin with. They would’ve gotten sick in 2018. Time to live in the real world again.

What did these people do pre-pandemic? The flu kills a large number of people every year and it's contagious also.
The flu does not kill as many as covid has. Be real. And, you are right, maybe regardless of the pandemic everyone should mask indoors always.

They are a bit unhinged BUT, you can still get and spread covid vaccinated so that is the concern. They are absolutely being selfish as masking is just as important as vaccines according to some studies.
I’m failing to understand the “selfishness” of following the guidelines currently in place in a county with one of the highest vaccination rates in the nation. No one is stopping you from wearing a mask if that makes you feel safer. Covid is going to be endemic, so by your logic masking indoors should be mandated indefinitely, which is something that just isn’t going to happen. Focus on what you can control instead of trying to control other people’s behavior.
The ONLY reason there is for covid to be endemic is idiots not wearing masks and breathing it in and getting infected. If you wear a mask, the mask will filter it out and stop it. My 3 year old understands this. It’s sad that so many adult dummies here don’t.
We will never get rid of covid if there are people who won’t mask.

Why can’t we have leaders who respect science? I absolutely plan to vote out the fools running Montgomery County right now. Cannot wait to do so. I early vote in these local elections, but I will be there for sure for the next one.
