If we didn’t attend the first day of try outs, does that mean we are pretty much screwed?

Depends on how good your kid is. If he is on the first team now one tryout is fine. Make sure you email an excuse for the second tryout.

Usually, at Valor tryouts the first team kids are grouped together, second team kids together, and then a field or area for all the rec kids and lower team kids jumbled together. They may move a kid up to a different field but not down during the tryouts. They are rating kids on an app. They barely watch the bad field.
