I have a kid on a top team and I can tell you an effective strategy for standing out is to stay back a grade. Not surprisingly, being older than most other players is beneficial.

No one in DC or MD is going to beat out the top two Coppermine middies and the Hero’s middie. They are, and I am referring to the established Coppermine middie and Hero’s middie, probably the two of the best players in the country. Easily. I agree that you don’t need to be on a marquis team to get recruited but it is much easier. Capital’s strength is its recruiting but I do not think you can go “anywhere in the DMV” and expect to be found outside of Capital.

Agree with the Heros and Coppermie middies being the best in the country. But they both also never pass the ball. Lots of talent on both teams underutilized as selfish "me" play is allowed.

Not a troll post. Around here we think of Hero’s as a DC/MD team, is why Hero’s does not get much of a trashing on this forum. We are proud of ALL of the DC-area players.

DMV girls should give Hero’s a look. #1 ranked program in the country and if you are in MoCo, not much further than driving to Capital without all the pre-tryout clinics and paranoia.

There is not a single DMV-based player that would make Hero’s 2028. It is a settled team. Maybe a couple girls leave.

Most of the big Maryland teams are settled except for a few slots. Hero's 2028 still has plenty of areas to improve on, so don't think they are stacked at every position.

There is not a player at Stars or Pride that would improve them. In fact, because talent is so evenly spread among the top few MD teams there are very few players in the state that would improve them. At this level, when everyone is settled, unless you can recruit a start from out of state the difference really is about coaching.

Right. Let me restate what you just wrote to see if you can now tell how absurd it is: Every player on every big Maryland team (100+ players) is better than any single player on Stars or Pride. And talent is totally evenly spread, so every big MD team is the same except for coaching. Coppermine and Hero's have the exact same talent as MDU or M&D.

Seriously one of the worst takes I have read in the last 20+ pages of mostly nonsense.

There’s only 1 team that has a separation gap in talent over the other MD teams. Coppermine does have more talent than every other team. The rest of the MD teams are pretty even, Hero’s M&D and Crush in the first bucket. MDU and Skywalkers in the next. Coaching plays a factor and the utilization of all that talent.

I’d challenge that statement. Coppermine has a few great players, but depth is questionable - they run everything through a few players and don’t even trust all their players to be on the field in close games. Maybe it’s a coaching decision, maybe it’s the players. Hero’s has significantly more depth in my opinion, better talent top to bottom.

Hero’s has 1 top middie while Coppermine has 3 along with 2 full lines. Whether they choose to play 2 full lines is all coaching. Attack may be even to some degree but Coppermine is better on Defense. Regardless the main point someone was trying to say is that the top Maryland teams do have similar talent. Coppermine just has most top players.

How do you people amass this amount of knowledge to the point that you are able to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of multiple teams by position? I can barely name the girls on my kids team and no, she does not play for MCE.

The MD teams play each other all the time. Many of the girls from various teams attend school together as well so it’s just really easy for people to be familiar with the girls and the teams.

2 full middie lines? They barely ever sub out their top 3 midfielders. They both have great defense and goalies, not sure how you could definitively say one is better than the other. What are you basing it on?

So far 2 have moved on from the team, a middie and a defender. No one else has left. False info.
How do DMV and VA girls fair in the recruiting ? Some do great, but in the end they r going to promote the local girls for the college spots vs a random VA girl. There r politics everywhere.

Not true. They had two Virginia girls in the 24 class that went to major schools.

A 5-star recruit probably doesn't belong in the "random VA girl" bucket.

Well, both are from Loudon County. So, suck a big fat one
