If my objective is that my DD goes to college, then i send her to Capital? If i want my daughter to go to a top ten lax school or dig ditches i send her to the Baltimore teams?

I think the poster more meant that if you want them to get better at lacrosse, the Md teams give you a boost. A lot of DC area kids get Ivy’s and NESCAC for family, money and academics, and it’s not lax that’s getting them the look. Everyone is looking for something different. Sometimes it’s a scholarship need, but if you have the wealth to not worry about money always go to the best university you get offered.

The follow up phone call from the coach is a good indicator.

There are a handful of new DC players that will be on Baltimore club teams in the fall. Everyone will be surprised they didn’t stay in DC area. Baltimore coaches take notes during games and actively recruit players during the season.

Not all the top DMV players are going to Capital? Shocking!

There will be a few changes with each top team going into HS. Nothing new there.

Is 4 new girls on one team more than a few? 18% roster overhaul. Thats the high end of a few. The trickle down is spots getting backfilled on the teams of the new girls, when those teams find out.

Skywalkers? Dont think M&D is making roster moves this early.

M&D is absolutely making roster moves now.

100% they are making moves ahead of capital tryouts. If you think they dont know what capital is up to you’re sadly mistaken. They are well aware of the early tryout and understand what they have to do to woo players.

lol. It has nothing to do with Capital. M&D and others do this every year. Every girl they added in past few years was pre-planned before summer tournaments. The tryouts are just to make money for the program.

M&D Black. Be interesting to see how this helps them.

I wouldn’t be shocked if M&D and HG both add 3-4 new girls at this age.

Because no one cares about the DC girls lacrosse teams and everyone knows that the majority of the top players on the DMV go to the Baltimore private schools. Sorry if it hurts to hear it. Note that I did say MAJORITY. Did not say that DC doesn’t have a few

How are you defining top? I'm going to use Inside Lacrosse ranked players/5-Stars.

For 2027, there were 4 5-Stars from DC-area or Baltimore privates. The two higher ranked players were from SSSAS and SR, respectively. Maryvale and SPSG each had one--so 2 from DC, 2 from Baltimore.

For 2026, #1 is from Maryvale, #2 from Visitation. Then you have three more from McDonogh, one from SPSG, one from Spalding, back to DC area for one from Potomac. So an advantage--5 to 2--for Baltimore.

For 2025, one from Stone Ridge in the DC column. One from McDonogh, one from SPSG. So 3-2.

Three year total was 10 to 6, Baltimore over DC-area. Not exactly a wipe out. If you added the Baltimore area publics, the numbers would have been more distant.

What about rankings? Using Inside Lacrosse Girls HS rankings here, and all of the privates in Baltimore and DC are done with their season. What do you see? Top team in the country is #1 Maryvale--no surprise there. But the next two teams from the DC or Baltimore area privates that are listed are #6 St. Stephen's and St. Agnes, and number #14 Good Counsel. Neither the ISL or WCAC champion played a Baltimore private this year, so we don't have a comparison there, but they would have been well matched.

In terms of head to head play, while two DC area schools (#2 and #3 in the ISL, Stone Ridge and Visitation) lost to Maryvale, and one (Stone Ridge) to McDonogh by larger margins, Stone Ridge lost only 1 goal games to IAAM #3 St Mary's (OT) and tied with #4, NDP. SJC, which was 4th in the WCAC won its only IAAM game, beating Archbishop Spalding, tied for #4 in the IAAM.

And Baltimore is not in the DMV. So while some girls may travel from the DMW to Baltimore privates, that statement didn't make sense.

In other words, your claim doesn't really hold up on individual recruits or team strength, even if there is technically a "majority" there.
