I know we've mentioned Dr. Monica Gandhi here, and this is a youtube video of her discussing the end of the pandemic. Also includes the written transcript, if you prefer to read it:

Lots of optimism!

And somewhere on FB or DCUM I saw Loudoun is sending out a lot of registrations. My friend is getting vaccinated tomorrow (she’s 1b)!

This is interesting.

"Moderna has designed an updated version of its Covid-19 vaccine to help it combat the South Africa coronavirus variant, the company announced Wednesday.

Initial doses have been shipped to the US National Institutes of Health for a clinical study.

The new vaccine, called mRNA-1273.351, will be evaluated as a booster shot for people who have already been vaccinated against coronavirus and as a primary vaccine for people who haven't had coronavirus and have yet to be vaccinated.

Moderna said it will also evaluate a "multivalent" booster shot that combines the new vaccine formulation with the current vaccine."

It is a data error:

Feb. 24 – The Virginia Department of Health is working to resolve a technical issue with its COVID-19 data feeds. We will update our case data once the issue is resolved.

Dang, well it was nice while it lasted. I bet we post a goose egg some time this summer.

I so hope that you are right on that
Looking forward to when this thread stays at the very top of DCUM's Recent Topics list due to all the good news being reported!

That would be so lovely

Like I've come to be able to live with no concerts, no live sports, no mall studying at cafes, no working in person, no playing sports, no travel, etc... but going over 11 months now without talking to somebody in a romantic context has been brutal. I try apps, but in person suits my way of dating much better (I'm ugly, but have a good personality).

Aww!
Sorry its been tough. But keep your head high... things are looking better and better!

This makes no sense to me - what's the supposed mechanism of action (other than the placebo effect)?

The discussion on the thread centered on the theory that some long haulers have chronic infections. The virus lingers. And the vaccine is enough to fight it off.

Not sure, but then again... there are just so many unknowns about this virus.
I know it's anecdotal... but it still gives me hope

Mind sharing the journalists name? I'd love to read more about this. I know several people with long haul symptoms...
