They are a complete mess!!!! I have been reading British papers for a while and saw this train wreck coming. They kept pushing the "herd immunity" crap for a while with zero social distancing guidelines or test prepping. Brits flying to Spain and partying hard even 1 week ago. Large festivals were still on, large pub gatherings to get one last drink before closures, and then the crazy run on supermarkets and people packed like sardines, the subway service decimated and people packed on like sardines. The testing is a complete disaster, there are both test shortages and a mismanagement of testing process.

No way it peaks April 12.

At some point we have to accept we're gonna lose some folks. Right now we've lost 17 jobs for every case of COVID19. 8000 people die every day in America. 3M per year. Losing 250K from COVID19 would just be a blip, because not all of those deaths would be "extra", some amount would have happened this year anyway.

And even that isn’t a given. I don’t think hospitals are deliberately hiding this but with a shortage of tests, if someone dies of an unspecified “respiratory illness” I would guess the protocols for testing and reporting vary widely around the country.

This is not conspiracy talk. It’s just the reality of what happens in chaos with limited resources. There simply aren’t enough tests, and I would think (hope) health care workers are a higher priority than a dead person.

Very sad. RSV could do that too. My daughter had RSV at 8 weeks and it was a rough road.
