Did she say she was taken hostage? I understood her to say that her school was on "lockdown." I paid fairly close attention to that as my high school was also on lockdown (over 50 years ago) when a student threatened to kill a teacher with a gun (I think it was a pistol.)

Kind of different from today. This was in the '60s. Nothing in the news about it. I cannot remember how long it lasted--but it wasn't hours for us and no one was hurt. I'm thinking it was about an hour that we were on lockdown. All I remember is the first name of the student (who was a year ahead of me) and the name of the teacher and that he taught biology. Incident did not make the news. On a reunion page recently, someone mentioned that we never heard what happened to the kid who threatened the teacher. He just never came back and the incident was not discussed. Hard to imagine in today's internet world.

Makes me wonder now how many times something like this has happened. Probably, more often than we know.

I'm listening to cnn online and heard Anderson Cooper talking about her with a clip of her talking about taking down this evil global "cable" (canal). I know I'm not supposed to sneer at people who only know a word from reading it, but I'm sneering in this case.

They can never admit they were wrong. It would break their psyche.

+1 they always have to double down, this is all it is and nothing more. Pure, spiteful stubborness.

Oh big surprise Greene has been lying about her origin story all along. Those of you who think AOC has been a dram Queen should read this.

McKinney was not wearing her pin and thought the Capitol Police should have recognized her.

But that doesn't happen...because of the GOP.

Democrats make mistakes, they apologize or they suffer consequences (see Al Franken).

GOP doubles down and gives them seats on a committee.

That's the thing. The GOP is trying to make an issue of Biden going to Wilmington this weekend, or of wearing a Rolex watch.

Sorry folks, the bar has been lowered so much that you really don't get to complain about a damned thing.

GQP will never win the game of whatabouts and othersideisms. Never. What they’ve done will always be infinitely worse and nothing compares.

Sad.

If I recall correctly Omar was reprimanded or they did try to kick her off her committees because of some anti-Semitic things she said. If I recall correctly Omar apologized and that seem to be enough to appease Democrats. So here’s where I despise partisanship. I think Greene is vile and I’m glad she was stripped of her committees and I hope she gets kicked out of Congress. But I also think that if a Democratic person says vile things too, the treatment should be equal. I don’t remember what Omar said and i’m not saying their statements were equal in speakable Ness, but I do think bad behavior should be treated equally on both sides of the aisle.

Omar never threatened to assassinate Kevin McCarthy. Big difference.

And Greene never apologized.

Oh no Omar’s was beyond the pale when compared to Greene.

In February, Omar responded to a tweet from journalist Glenn Greenwald, who posted about House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy threatening to punish Omar and another congresswoman for being critical of Israel.

Omar wrote back, "It's all about the Benjamins baby," a line about $100 bills from a Puff Daddy song. Critics jumped on the tweet and said Omar was calling up a negative and harmful stereotype of Jewish Americans.

I know. My point was that the Republicans already tried that with Omar.
