Close schools until there’s a vaccine. No teacher pay-they can file for unemployment like everyone else. OR allow everyone else to work from a distance.

I’ve been working with the public for months. Social distancing when possible. No issues for me or my coworkers, even when some clients (mostly children, some adults) tested positive.

My husband is using the CARES Act to stay home with our kids. He’ll have to quit in the fall if there is no school. It sucks.

The teacher’s union is out of control. Teachers are getting every cent while working virtually - minimally. The can do better and should do better. If they can’t work, fine. But they are just making it that much harder for the teachers who will be willing to come teach in person. Come on, you are a teacher, teach.

What are the Learning Hubs? I haven't heard of them.

So true!
There are many questions and concerns, yet very few answers.

YES !!!! thank You

There are all kinds of practical questions that DCPS doesn't seem to have any answer to: for example, what about kids who are found to be unwell during the day? Many parents can't (or won't) pick up their kids when they're called about a fever or a kid throwing up, so the kids languish in the office until pickup time (or sometimes they even go to aftercare). What is the school supposed to do when parents won't pick up their kids or send them to school sick in the first place? Where is all this space (and personnel) to quarantine sick kids? (They cannot be left alone without an adult supervising them.) What happens when parents don't make it to school to pick up at 3:15?

And what happens with before and aftercare? Are they allowed to operate without observing social-distancing guidelines? They don't have nearly as many employees as the school does, so they'd have to hire more people for, presumably, fewer kids (since the schools won't have all the kids attending every day.)

Well, school is out for summer. You cannot blame teachers for you parents being at home. You should all be at work. Well? What are you waiting for? Or are many people still working remotely because they are worried about COVID19 and don't want to risk it?

i think phase 3 guidance should be updated based on the AAP document.

is that being considered?

So we should wear masks and keep bars closed so we don’t be one Texas.

And most of the cases were adults who likely contracted it in the community.

DC is piloting the Learning Hubs this summer so I’m sure they’ll also consider that as childcare for teachers.

I'm not clear what the WTU is trying to do (I personally want to be back in full-time in-person teaching), but I don't think this survey is going to give the information that DCPS really needs because it has no way for us to indicate that we are considering taking leave.

Don't think for a minute that DCPS will not retaliate if you take FMLA. I know that legally they can't- but that has never stopped them before.

I'm the PP considering taking leave. I did not experience any retaliation when I took leave after the birth of my children, and I hope I won't experience any now. But honestly I'm not sure I will have a choice anyway--I have children who are too young to leave home alone, and unless DCPS offers appropriate childcare for them I will have to take leave.

My school did a deep cleaning in June. Families could retrieve (or not) items from kids lockers/desks. Then, it was cleaned.
