You can almost smell the Long Bridge and Williamsburg turf in some of these desperate DA parents.

For young players looking to take their path into the pros, definitely MLS academies or get a European passport.

Depends on the age group. Yes, for the older teams, but certainly not the younger ones.....

Some big decisions to be made by ECNL locally and elsewhere. All 3 GDA clubs are uncomfortably close to nearby ECNL clubs. Lots of pros and cons either way. And no real opportunity for tryouts until mid to late summer at best. Buckle up, bumpy road ahead


Maybe this will lead to some consolidation/merging of clubs ?

If many DA teams were accepted into ECNL, it’d definitely have the side benefit of shorter travel for many games.

If those teams aren’t accepted, the upcoming tryouts will be high pressure. A lot of starters for their prior teams will not make a top team.

Why no? Why wouldn’t FCV get ECNL again? If they didn’t they will be ruined.

If it’s true, I just feel bad for the players who are on DA teams and in sophomore/junior years of high school. Those age groups on the girls side just keep getting jerked around.

I can't help but think that if this actually happens, FCV will be scrambling to get back into ECNL again. But given their proximity to Loudoun and the fact that they left ECNL for DA, do they get accepted (again)? And if not and all the DA players leave FCV for Loudoun, I would imagine that there will be more than a couple of Loudoun parents who won't be too happy at the thought of DD losing "her spot" on the ECNL team.
