Over the years, lawyers acting on behalf of minors protected by the Flores Agreement have filed numerous motions asking judges to enforce it, claiming that the government has fallen short of its obligations. They filed the motion now at issue in 2016, during the Obama administration, arguing that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Protection) were violating the Flores Agreement by, among other things, confining minors in facilities that are not “safe and sanitary.”

I am a Spanish speaking teacher on summer vacation. I have been teaching for almost 30 years and love caring for children. I could take care of a couple of these children for a lot less than $700 a day. I am an empty nester now and have room in my house. This news is killing me. What kind of country do I live in? Please ask teachers who are on summer break and I would bet you would get some really, really good people helping out. For the love of God . . .

No, that only happens in some third world countries and kleptocracies. Our "peer" countries are all still democracies (not inflicted with "big man" rule). But hey who wants to be like Norway and Japan when we can emulate Zaire and Russia instead!
