If I fall off my routine I very quickly gain weight, and it takes a lot more work to get back to ideal weight. I often don't drink alcohol because of the calories. You may need to see someone. 104 is very small, even at 5'2". A healthier weight would be at least 115. Muscle is important.
104 is fine at 5'2. I am 5'1 and if I weighed 115 I would honestly look a little chubby. 5 lbs is a big difference on that small a frame.
Where on earth did you get that rom? If she is getting through activities of sailing living she has muscle. She says she exercises so she probably has a healthy amount of muscle.

I've always been conscious of my eating habits and honestly do not like fast food, or too many sweets. I continue those habits now and my weight stays right around 115. I really don't indulge much. I have oatmeal or a smoothie for breakfast, a salad w/ protein for lunch, and a small-portion dinner. I drink some wine but no beer or mixed drinks. Snacks are usually fruit or raw nuts. If I notice a few pounds have crept on after the holidays or a vacation, I cut back. I don't feel deprived, and I really like the way I feel & look. I exercise moderately/erratically.
How old are you, and what are your pleasures in life?
I am 50, and love food, wine and sex. I will never be thin.
I'm 40, and despite the implication of your question, I have a very enjoyable life and am a fun person. My pleasures are many - - the outdoors, reading, music, good wine, entertaining friends, my solid partnership with my husband of 13 years, and our 2 great kids. I love wine and sex too! And while I do love food, I indulge in hi-calorie, hi-carb foods as a treat rather than a regular occurrence. I don't need to have pasta and dessert every night. For a holiday or other special occasion, or at a great restaurant, I'll eat more than I normally would. but on a day to day basis I exercise restraint. And I notice and like the results.
Anonymous wrote:I'm the opposite. Became naturally thin after 40. Seriously. After a lifetime of being chubby I now seem to eat whatever I want (which is not a lot I admit. I think me appetite has decreased ) and stay the same weight (20 lbs less than my college days)

So to actually look lean and in shape, not just shapelessly thin, I watch the sugar and carbs and work out 3x a week. I am not fat if I don't but it's the difference between round shoulders and nicely sculpted ones, and a jiggle in my thighs vs not.

I was the same way until I hit my early 40s. Now I have to be the damn Calorie Police, and have to be really disciplined about working out 5x a week, or I pack on weight.

I don't count calories, but I don't eat fast food or much processed stuff, drink alcohol pretty sparingly (a glass of wine or a margarita in summer once or twice a month usually), and drink ~100 oz of water every day.
Same about the sport - it's an intense 60 minute to 90 minute affair so a great workout. 2-3 times/week.
On the off days I swim or jog for an hour - often late at night so it fits in.
The sport is crazy fun so its not like it's work. I exercise every day because it makes me feel good.
To the PPs - what intense sports do you do? Looking for some suggestions here. Thanks!
