I'm a transwoman. I change at home to avoid trying to figure out what locker room to go in. If I do need to go into one I'll go into the women's room but get changed really quickly in a stall. Most other trans* people I know do the same. We want to blend in, not out ourselves by walking around with our genitalia on display.

You beat me to it pp, I was going to say the same thing. It's common sense. If anyone should be allowed to use the locker room they "feel" like they are then take down the mean, stereotypical signs that are so exclusive. Men? Psh... Women? Psh... That is so old-fashioned.


Nobody is pooh-poohing gender-separated locker rooms. The basic issue is that you think transwomen are men.

Why does it matter that this child was a boy? A girl of that age has exactly the same amount of experience with breasts like yours than a boy. You really felt threatened by a 5yo's questions?


Not the same poster. But I too don't want little boys using me for sex ed in the locker room. And no, not all girls have exactly the same amount of experience. My girls see me naked all the time. If I had a son, he would not see me naked. I don't want someone else's son to see me naked, either. That should not be too much to ask in a changing room. It's not about feeling "threatened". It's about boundaries, privacy, and the right to decide when and by whom you will show your naked self. There is a reason why all same-gender changing rooms are all same-gender changing rooms.

There's an awful lot of talk here about women being "subjected to penises".

First of all, not all transwomen have penises.

Second of all, unless somebody tells me otherwise, I am going to assume that transwomen who do have penises spend exactly as much time subjecting people to their genitals in the locker room as I spend subjecting people to mine, namely: none.


I'm also going to add to the PP. I highly, highly, highly doubt that transwomen with penises are flashing them around. They are very likely hiding them out of their OWN discomfort (not yours). Which is why many of them have them removed. It's seriously laughable though the way these women are acting like their eyes are going to spontaneously combust out of their heads at the mere sight of a penis. But I'll pay anyone $5,000 who says they were flashed by a transwoman. That's a bet I'm very sure I'll win.

So, let's banish transgender people and children from locker rooms! And lets banish moms from locker rooms too. We can't have moms in locker rooms - I don't feel safe with a person who would bring a 5 year old into a locker room. What is WRONG with people!!


Sweetheart - it isn't all about safety, it is about discomfort. Why should I suffer and be subjected to a dude looking at my body just so his feelings can be accommodated? And yes - after a certain age - around 7, a boy should be changing in the men's room. He should know how to change by then and we all know how safe it is!


Why do you think "a dude" would be looking at your body? Also, what if "a lesbian" looks at your body? Theoretically, "a lesbian" would be motivated by similar things to this imaginary trans woman (or "dude" as you call her). Do you propose that we have sexual orientation segregated bathrooms/locker rooms too?

It sounds to me like when you say "gender neutral changing rooms", what you really mean is "changing rooms that transgender people should use".

The women's locker room is the women's locker room, not the ciswomen's locker room. And the men's locker room is the men's locker room, not the cismen's locker room.

But if you want to institute a policy that everybody in all locker rooms must keep their genitals covered -- well, ok.


Oh geez...I even posted before that I'd be fine with single stalls and I'd be happy to use them instead of the women's rooms if I knew I had to expect penises in the women's room.

I am sorry but nobody will convince me that being subjected to penises and women's rooms and vaginas in men's rooms is in any sort of way ever okay. It just is not. Absolutely not. Ever.
