If I have to take her to the hospital for breathing difficulties, I would normally take her to Reston. If a passenger with ebola flies into Dulles, then there we would be. Right in an ebola hospital. I call that a reason for concern. If you don't think so, you are deluding yourself.




If the hospital is ready to receive Ebola cases, then they won't be putting your kid, or anyone, for that matter, anywhere near a patient who is isolated due to Ebola. That goes for the waiting areas, lab areas, everything.


Like they did in Dallas?


Did the Dallas hospital claim they were ready and prepared to receive Ebola patients? Oh wait, no, they didn't.

Oh, I must have missed something. Did people from the general population get sick in Dallas? I thought it was only nurses who worked with the patient before appropriate infection control procedures were put in place.

They need somewhere to treat people close to the airport. Every hospital is going to be inconvenient to some of its neighbors. If you are worried, pick a back up hospital.

The best thing they can do if they are going to continue allowing flights is to designate hospitals where there will be training and staff specific to Ebola. I have a lot more confidence in hospitals with this training then I do a hospital like Dallas that was all "oh shit, no what?" I've worked on trauma teams before and the best thing to do is have specifically trained staff who can spring into action at a moments notice.
