You were arguing that ahadith shouldn't bee seen as reliable. I reminded you of the meaning of the word "Sahih". You responded by "Islamophobe Christian Evangelical Crusader" in four separate subsequent posts. I remember laughing at the time because it is so typical for Muslims to see Christians everywhere.

But never mind. That conversation was not for nothing. You delivered the best bit about the only authentic collection of hadith that's still 1) untranslated from Arabic, and 2) not distributed to the world, even the Arabic-speaking one, 3) under lock and key in Saudi Arabia.

I shared this with my Saudi husband and when he was done laughing, he said, "this woman must be like the ones who call into the religious TV shows and ask, "Sheikh, i believe there is a male jinn in my house, should I cover in front of him or not?"

Beautiful day today, out and about in merrifield va. And this woman had the long black robe on that covers the face, 2 slits for eyes. No men around, just her and a bunch of kids. I cringe. I really have a intrinsic negative reaction to woman dressing like. You have to be mentally deficient to cover your whole body AND face in black when the sun is shining and it is in the mid 70's.

The educated kaffirah here. I've dressed down our Muslim posters about their rants quite a bit. But your reaction to this woman's appearance is all on you. It has nothing to do with her. Your desire to undress her is as bad as someone's desire to veil her. For all you know, she's looking at your cleavage and thinking you have to be mentally deficient to expose yourself like this.

Why ???

The sun was out and in the 70's. It had rained most of the day. It was the weekend and I didn't have to work. I don't have cleavage.

Why would you cover your face? I don't understand a god that would create a sun, that is good for the earth and body and soul and then dictate that 50% of the human race cannot experience it.

Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows!

Yes, well of course I should have known your Saudi husband was the real authority whose opinion I should have sought before publishing this ridiculous statement. Let me guess, he's on the World Fiqh Council? Or the World Muslim Council? No? Oh thats right, he's a direct descendent of Prophet Muhammad and a member of the royal Saudi family? And he's a devout Muslim too? A learned man who graduated from Al Azhar University? Which one?

All I can tell you is if you refuse to investigate to confirm the truth of what I said, then shut up. Get off your ass, pick up the phone, make the phone calls, speak to the scholars who know. Otherwise you just look stupid for criticizing from a place of no knowledge.

I think it's cute that you think members of the Saudi royal family have outstanding religious knowledge. It's understandable, though. Sunnis have always worshipped rulers.

I don't believe in oral evidence. Post a link to a written opinion proving the existence of unpublished authentic ahadith, or it's just a one dude in a turban said so.

The PP keeps insisting Islamic inheritance law have been imposed on the Arab Christian community when they have not. The Christian community could change the laws that apply to them but haven't chosen to do so. (Perhaps not unrelated to the fact that all the powers that be in the churches are male, and Islamic inheritance laws favor males.) PP appears to keep insisting Islamic law is imposed on Christians to re-enforce her anti-Islamic point of view

In my own view, the Islamic inheritance laws are disadvantageous for women, but only in comparison to 21st century Western standards. They were a model of women's rights for their time, and indeed were very favorable to women compared to the laws that prevailed in much of the West even into the 20th century.

I appreciate this history, but the world has moved on. The biggest weakness of Islam in my view is the belief that the Koran is immutable and everything in it must be followed slavishly for all time and in all places.

This was not actually the view of earliest Islam, which certainly saw the need to adapt to different cultures and societies and evolve over time. Unfortunately, Islam became stuck in time around the 11th century when it was seen necessary to stop evolution in thought to prevent the proliferation of Islamic sects (something we've become used to into Christianity and have actually come to welcome as a positive development to keep the established sects honest and relevant).

The Sharia is not only outdated in some areas but it is actually contradictory to the Quran. It needs to be changed to properly reflect the Quran. However, this is not a flaw in the actual faith, its a flaw in the humans interpreting the faith. The islamophobes can not distinguish the two.

Islamophobes weren't the ones who created Shariah.

You forgot to add "christianevangelicalcrusader." fingers getting tired?

Oh yes, I just decided to wake up one morning and hurl that label out on you islamophobes and absolutely no reason at all. You provided a balanced, objective perspective, you asked questions politely, you never insulted Muslima or me, not ever, not once, and yet I decided to hurl this insult at you.

Go figure.

I'm still curious why you use "christianevangelicalcrusader" as an insult when you don't know if the person you're talking to is Christian. Why is that?

Did you not already ask that? This was asked before and I answered. It is because Islam was compared to Christianity and repeatedly vilified and presented as the more uncivlized of the two. I know Christian evangelicals and Christian crusaders were/are hardly good Christians.

Sounds like Muslims CAN inherit from a nonMuslim, in the process disinheriting other nonMuslim heirs?
