OP here. I'm against adoption because of the corrupt system and how it all really boils down to baby-selling to the highest bidder.
OP, it sounds to me like you don't know very many adoptees or adoptive parents. Otherwise, I don't really think you'd use the term "highest bidder." I know our situation may not be common (though I know about 5 or 6 parents that had similar experiences), but in our case, we were looking to adopt and met a high school girl who was pregnant. She knew she could not raise the baby. She wanted absolutely no money from us. She was on her parents health plan so all medical was covered. She still lived with her parents so didn't need any financial support. We paid around $5000 to a private attorney who handled all the paperwork.
She has been a huge part of our child's life. She visited often when he was a baby and came to every birthday party. She really is a big part of our family. She feels like an aunt to him. He's 10 now and she is still very involved. She recently got married and had a baby. She wanted us to visit and she got a great picture of our son, her newborn and her at the hospital.
I just wanted to relay that the adoption system (domestic, private at least) isn't all corruption and "selling babies to the highest bidder." Hopefully you can expand your world a little and learn something new today.
