It’s a legit question what is the goal of ECNL soccer. Some would argue the objective is as a college recruiting platform and from that perspective VDA is crushing it. If the objective is to develop winning soccer teams and players, not so much. The VDA teams are just not very competitive at soccer against the other ECNL conferences. They are very competitive in the recruiting arena aided by a generally weak mid atlantic conference.

word is there is a secret carpool draft with a bouncy ball and all. Only 7+ suvs seaters are allowed to attend. They dont need to develop players anymore. Not while the carpool draft exists.

Is the point of a showcase bracket to win or get as many girls as possible solid looks in front of scouts?


Both. If you are winning, you will attract more coaches. If you are a perennial loser with a really good player,.coaches that player has contacted may turn out to see them.

Otherwise, coaches will often to to the "name brand" games. If you are winning a lot of coaches will naturally be there. If you are on a suck team playing a really good team you can benefit by playing the good team.

These are 8th graders. History tells us that only half the current team or less will still be there through to college.
