Lorde had her Brat summer. Sabrina took over. Controversy surrounding Blake and Brittany. Everybody left Scooter. She got her masters back. What am I forgetting or mixing up? I don’t think any of this album is meant to be punching down. It’s just her life for the past few years set to a more upbeat tempo. It’s not my favorite but after a few listens there are no skips for me.

I mean, who really cares what they think if she's happy. I bet she doesn't. And you know they were all looking down their noses at her the whole time she was in their crowds. Such snobs.
This is deranged. Taylor quite obviously cares what they think because she wrote a whole song on this album about how she thinks they they make fun of her behind her back. It's clearly very important to her and she is viewing Matty's rejection as a rejection by this whole group of people/corner of the music industry. Sure, sure, she says in the song she doesn't care and it's funny because, omg, Charli is so obsessed with her. But if that's really how she felt, she wouldn't have made the lyrics so biting or vindictive.
Look, we know Taylor is petty. She always has been. It's one of the things I find relatable about her and her music because I can be petty too. But twisting ourselves into knots to justify everything she does or paint her as the good guy and victor in EVERY situation is cult like. Actually Romantic is a petty, vindictive song, and she is yet again using her very large microphone to go after a female peer because she feels insecure. Which is ironic because Charli used her much, much smaller microphone to release a song explicitly about feeling insecure around Taylor and trying to deal with that, but without trashing Taylor.
This time it's Taylor who's the smallest woman who ever lived, sorry.
It sounds like Charli and Taylor were beefing and she wrote about a song about it. People are really overthinking it. She has 100s of songs. To pick one and say it means she is obsessed or clearly never getting over something is odd. It’s what she does - picks a feeling and writes song. It also gets people talking which is not a bad thing.
I’m sure Charli bugs her and vice versa.
She is writing about Charli *right now.* "But she has written hundreds of other songs in the past"...okay? How does that prove she doesn't care about Charli? She is obviously very bothered by her.
I bet she's so bothered because of the Matty connection too. That's unfortunate. Its like the popular girl next door fighting with the popular bad girl crew. Again I don't see how she could do all of that for someone like Matty.
What don’t you see? She was in love with him for most of her adult life. Has admitted so in a million songs. He inspired her, kept her going all those late nights. Encouraged her to speak up and engage in political discussions. Set her sheets ablaze. Introduced her to old bands, retro films and classic texts.
He was one epic muse and a tease too: “I’m better at writing was just a way to get you biting.” They toyed with each other like this over the years, and their fans got to enjoy all those great songs and albums that were created in the process.
Matty Healy is the loss of Taylor’s life and not necessarily in just a romantic sense.
He looks like he doesn't shower and looks like he is high 24/7. I don't find it attractive but I guess one would if they like bad boys.

Agree. In we are never getting back together which might have been about JG but who knows, Taylor says “you hide away and find your peace of mind with some indie record that’s MUCH cooler than mine.”
This seems like a consistent theme in her life. People always just dismissing her thinking she’s bubblegum or a little girl pop or whatever, and then when she gets some success and hangs out with people like MH and his friends who are burning with jealousy over her success and creativity they have to find some subtle ways of putting her down like she sold out to pop or whatever.
Meanwhile, they look like true idiots. Matty’s wife is a model. She literally just stand there looking dumb and starved. They both look like they eat cigarettes for breakfast.
But man, they’re so cool!
