Wootton is the most serious incident in MCPS?
Mark my words - this is the excuse certain anti-asian racist adults will use to deliberately discriminate against a top MCPS school with a large white and asian population. This is how the County will justify not removing the asbesdos from the school, ignoring the possiblity of future cancer. This is the excuse the county will use the next time a ceiling tile falls in the middle of class. This is how the Wootten kids have their school's funding taking away for programs. It is so clear what is happening here.
Half of the BOE was cleaned out, but it's not enough. Jawando needs to be voted out and the members of the BOE and Central Office fired.
Elevating and calling out real examples of anti-Blackness is somehow actually anti-Asian? Make it make sense.
Moreover, this only made the news because the principal failed to follow protocol. Not sure how that fits into the conspiracy theories and persecution complex.
Correct. The sense of entitlement and victimization among Wootton parents is troubling, to say the least.
Troubling? Let's see who's right. Let's see what happens during the Crown boundary study and whether Wootton renovation (if it ever occurs) has the asbesdos removed. The County Council and BoE has threatened the health, safety and welfare of ALL Wootton students by not removing the asbesdos from the building. They should be held CRIMINALLY liable for this failure to act, despite full knowledge of the consequences.
I've seen this pattern over and over again on DCUMS where an agitator comes up with some fake narrative to overblow and incident to push a personal agenda. Many were posted by the Central Office themselves, seeking to arrive at an outcome to push their own personal social agenda. I also believe this handful of MCPS CO staff caters to politicians like Jawando who will help them push these personal agendas, as we saw for years with McKnight and her approval of milliions of dollars in pet projects versus putting that money for improvement of academics, building repair / remediation, and teacher benefits.
I feel this is the rot and corruption within MCPS that needs to be fired and removed. Jawando and the legacy BOE board supporting him needs to be voted out. Getting rid of McKnight was a good start, but it really didn't go far enough. MCPS needs to focus on funding academics, supporting teachers, and ensuring ALL buildings within MCPS are safe environments. Anything less is unacceptable.
All of your complaints about Wootton's building state are valid but have nothing to do with the Wootton BSU's complaints.
Black students and staff at Wootton spoke out to the BOE and the public about their experiences and what THEY called out as a racist climate and culture at Wootton. They reported anti-Black incidents to the principal who SAT on them or slow-rolled his response to them in inappropriate ways.
Please engage and address the incident, which was reported by members of the Wootton community and stop spiraling about a bunch of other stuff that is not at the heart of this matter.
Or is it that you don't believe or see value in the comments of Black Wootton students and staff because they are Black?
I believe this was a deliberately calculated act by people who have no business being in Public Education. I think that if every Jewish, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, White, etc. got as much attention as the Wootton incident did and were all treated equally, MCPS would completely shut down. It's very clear to me the Wootton incident was totally blown out of proportion, especially when you consider everything else happening in MCPS. Seriously, a print job, a desk scribble, and a kid yelling from a car? What clown considers that newsworthy? Heck, you could fill the nightly news with events all around MCPS on a daily basis if that was news.
I think YOU are the problem. YOU are trying to blow this way out of proportion. AT NO TIME did YOU say "the parents of the kids who did this". YOU are the one saying ALL OF WOOTTON must suffer for the actions of a few. YOU are the racist on this post.
Do you get it now?

Yet you don't deny it? Or maybe at best made a cameo appearance?
The way I know is because of the derogatory statements you made without really knowing the school at all. There may be a few outlyers, as any school has, but your generalizations of the school are false. The kids at Wootton are respectful and kind.

I truly hope they are ALL arrested and charged, starting with Jawando, Wolfe, and anyone else who withheld renovation funding or asbestos removal these past 10+ years.

Except when it's fryable.. such as, oh I dunno, crumbling insulation or falling ceiling tiles? Any of those issues happening at Wootton? Hmmm?
At this point I'm more concerned about lead paint in your home/school, which you seem to enjoy eating.

As long as asbestos is not breathed it is very safe. Most of the flooring in the county schools actually has asbestos in the glue. It is best just to leave it in disturbed until a major renovation.
