Genuine question: If Biden is truly incapable of serving another four years, why didn't this come up before now? Wouldn't the leadership have known and prevented him from becoming the candidate?

Yeah. It's impossible to have a serious discussion because of the diehard partisans on both sides, but in this thread it's really the diehard Democrats who stubbornly insist Joe Biden only had a bad night with a cold, ignoring the NYT editorial asking him to step down and the growing ranks of congressmen and senators asking him to go.

The optics are so bad right now. This is the scandal of 2024, not Trump or whatever Trump might do as president. Biden's cognitive decline, the clear reality that it was covered up by the party and the media, the refusal to step down, the inability of the party to make him step down, a VP who knew all along what Biden's condition was but did nothing about it. I do not see how the Democrats can win this November no matter what they do, both Biden and the party are heavily discredited. They prosecuted Trump and got a partisan judge and DA to creatively twist the laws to make him felon while others who did the exact same thing he did only got mere fines, but how does that compare to covering up Biden's cognitive decline and hiding it from the entire country! And now everyone's wondering who is actually running the show at the White House?

I cant believe i have to say this but apparently i have to. First, it’s not 18 months ago as you point out and that makes a lot of difference. Second, he did not have covid, he tested and was negative. Nobody ever said you need to be a recluse and wear a mask if you have a cold. Oh, schools have been open for years even in blue states, just in case you have not noticed that either…..

So wrong. How many times did we hear. If you have symptoms stay home. The test is wrong unless it’s positive.

I’m not sure which scenario makes Biden look worse lying about being sick or actually being so sick that he’s blaming poor performance on it and going out in public.

If Biden is incapacitated at any point after the election, we’re perfectly happy for Harris to assume her duties as President. That’s what she’s there for, per the Constitution.
