I think they might actually be a duo that can get some stuff done if they stay united. I really had high hopes for BZS because I was familiar with her work from my time at Randolph. I hope whoever makes it on in November is really ready to try to get some positive changes happening.
I honestly can’t read BZS. From how they interacted in school board meetings, I thought they were friends. Maybe Mary did do something behind the scenes to upset the balance. I don’t know. All of this drama came out of left field. Everybody looks bad, Mary too out of association with all of this garbage around her.
I hope the rest of the board doesn’t stifle her for the next 6 months.
Same. I hope Bethany gets better. I didn’t originally believe she was part of the coup d’etat but her statement last night wasn’t supportive either. But she voted for Mary so maybe there is hope for her yet.
TY for saying what I’ve been thinking. Mary is definitely part of the problem.
I get it. It’s hard to question anything around here because of the fangirls that pop up around her. Ok, I think she’s a good board member and the few times I’ve spoken to her she’s been very gracious. But the fact that there’s heat means the kitchen is around the corner. Too much stuff just isn’t adding up. I think it’s more than the CIP.

I don’t think Mary ever wasn’t supportive of SB work. She took it more seriously than the rest, IMO. But the fact that she spoke against the CIP and even dared to vote against it tossed some feathers. You can serve on a board and dissent when you need to. Reid did it all the time and was never dressed down like Mary was yesterday.
It’s obvious just from these past two meetings that the Board is not a united front anyway.

Reid was called stupid on a hot mic, remember that?
But yeah, the SB shouldn’t be there to be a rubber stamp or a formality, or empty suits waiting to be elected to a higher office.
They’re elected to represent us, and we don’t always agree, even when we’re all in the same party and 90% in agreement. I’m glad Mary actually wants to do this job and has the chops to ask serious questions of Syphax. I’ve known her since she worked for PBS in the Educational sphere. She’s smart, kind, and knows a LOT about education. Keep up the good work, Mary!

Sounds like Trumpism to me, but what do I know. Are we sure we elected 5 Democrats?
There's a lot of APE gaslighting on this thread!
That’s not APE. CDT and DP practically said these sentiments at the SB meeting last night!
Yes, this thread, like all threads on this site has gone to the APEs. No one else would call the APS school board Trumpian. It's APE gaslighting.
I’m definitely not APE though, and OP is right. Cristina, David, and even Bethany and Dr Duran practically told Mary to toe the company line last night.
