Yes, I mentioned this upthread. That’s soul-breaking for a child. I do think it had a lot to do with his marriage to an older woman. His ex-wife must be nearly 70 now, based on those ages.
And interestingly enough, apparently he finally did some therapy around his mother’s abandonment in 2022. It may not be a coincidence that his marriage failed not long afterwards.
He also has a 19 year old. Maybe he was waiting until his kids were adults to file for divorce because he wanted them to grow up in a two parent household. That would make sense given his childhood.
He probably just didn’t want to pay child support. Cleaner when there aren’t any children involved. Now he can just split assets and agree to cover college, etc.
