I had heard of both Harvard Westlake, Sidwell, NCS/STA a long time ago.
Your point is...what?

They don’t have public ones because it is tacky and anyone they want to know where they are going they will tell or allow them to see on a private forum. There are a lot of creeps these days and I would not post that private information with my name and school on a public forum.
Oh pleeeze. Ncs has insta pages.

Is there a current one for NCS?

Anonymous wrote:Eye roll. No one knows what Sidwell is outside the DMV. Have family members at Harvard Westlake and at Collegiate and they could not name one school in our area. They do remember the Obama girls and Chelsea went to a school in D.C. but could not name the school for the life of them.

I mean, maybe Andover 20 years ago, but at this point, and particularly post COVD, it simply isn't possible.
Add to it, a lot of kids want a different collegiate experience from their "big3" type high school experience. That is why you see a lot of schools like Clemson, Boulder, Pitt etc on the matriculation lists.
Doesn’t matter where you go when you’re rich, connected, and have an elite private k-12 education. Clemson and Michigan aren’t the same experience for these kids. The big 3 kid gets into an elite sorority or fraternity proles can’t get into, only mixes with rich peers, cruises to graduation with a 3.9 gpa, and lands a cushy six figure job with a rich connection (if they don’t go to med or law school).
Isn’t the same true for kids that go to Potomac, Bullis, and the 2nd tier schools that cost 50,000 per year?
Perhaps, but those schools don’t have the cachet of the Big 3 DC schools. Most people will ask where’s Potomac? Why is it in VA? What’s a Bullis? Never heard of it.
Let’s be honest, when people hear that you graduated from Sidwell/NCS/STA (and maybe GDS) they think “rich and smart.” Many people think “rich and dumb” when they hear Bullis. I’m not saying it’s true…it’s more perception.
The only Big Three with worldwide recognition is Sidwell.
Sidwell does not have the clout it once had 20 plus years ago. They do not have a strong presence in power broker circles or in socially elite circles. Single sex schools is where it is at and I would say the Cathedral schools are at the top of the heap.
"Single sex schools is where it is at"? - I'm not so sure about that.
And really - what day school has true "worldwide" recognition? I feel like Sidwell, Dalton in NYC and Harvard Westlake in LA, maybe? Only inside of pretty niche circles do people know places like Brearley, Collegiate, NCS, and STA.

Phillips Academy (Andover) and Phillips Exeter Academy are also known globally. However, many people confuse the two—or think that it’s just one school.

Sidwell does not have the name recognition it used to have. It gained recognition when Clinton and Obamas kids attended but not so much anymore.
Sidwell is not the only school to have vips and presidents kids. The Bushs and Gores attended STA and NCS.
Of course VIPs don’t only send their children to Sidwell. Why are you arguing a point that no one has made?!?
Gore’s son attended Sidwell. His grandson currently attends the school.
President Biden’s granddaughters recently attended Sidwell as well. By my count that’s 4 Presidents (Roosevelt, Nixon, Clinton, and Obama) and 2 VPs (Gore and Biden). Which other DMV private matches or exceeds that VP/Presidential presence? This is not a contest. I’m genuinely curious.
