There has been sufficient legal evidence to support that claim to get this case all the way to trial.

I have heard people argue that it's unfair to punish Louis C.K. for his behavior because, after all, it's not as bad as what Weinstein did. And sure, I agree LCK is not as bad as Weinstein. But LCK exposed himself and jerked off in front of female comedians on his tour, without their consent. I can't be mad at him for that? I can't decide, you know what, I don't want to support or give my money to someone who treats women he works with that way? Of course I can, it's gross. I would be so traumatized if that happened to me. The comedians he did that to pretty much left comedy, and I get why. Is he a rapist? No. Is what he did okay? Also no.

And Baldoni is on that same continuum IMO. I don't think he's like an evil dude (I increasingly do think Sarowitz is, but that's true of so many billionaires). I think he's tone deaf and misogynist and created a really awful workplace for women. I don't think he should go to jail but I am FINE with him being sued under existing employment law for the mistakes he made in running this movie, and also in him being publicly exposed for his behavior. People can decide for themselves if they want to continue to support him as a director or actor or producer based on the truth coming out. I will choose not to support him, other people will make their own choices.

In that case, I would say he has every right to defend himself as well and to come out with the receipts. People can decide for themselves like you said most people aren’t really paying much attention to this because it’s not very salacious and it’s not black-and-white in terms of whi is good and evil. Blake has her supporters, but the women of Hollywood are not cheering her on that finally someone had the guts and the resources to take an abuser to court. The things that happen are pretty mild. You would think yesterday there would be a bunch of female celebs tweeting or posting on Instagram in solidarity but nothing. Not even her supposed besties like Gigi and the sisterhood girls? The silence from Hollywood on this speaks volumes, especially on a day like yesterday.

It’s pretty clear from all the Sony correspondence that we’ve seen when this was going on that nobody was raising sexual harassment issues. They didn’t seem to really like Baldoni or Blake. They seemed annoyed with both but nobody escalated or seemed concerned about this as late as August 2024, months after filming had wrapped. They were calling it “orchestrated drama.” It just didn’t seem like anyone who was there in the day-to-day and knew the complaints and the stress and the disagreements existed, would describe it as sexual harassment.

The executives who said she was a terrorist and she would never work again and things weren’t like, but let’s remember this was an incredibly stressful and traumatic time on set. They were just like writing her off. And many of those were women.

I’m not saying she doesn’t have a right to bring this case to trial, I’m just not sure that in the end it will have been worth it to her.

How is filing a lawsuit "throwing a tantrum." That's a weird way to characterize it. Did you read Lively's deposition? She is clearly not just throwing a tantrum. Whether you agree with her or not, she obviously feels genuinely injured by what Wayfarer and Baldoni did to her, and is pursuing what she believes to be justice. It's not a frivolous suit and she's gone to great lengths to prove her case.

If she can't prove it, she will lose. That's how the courts work. It's literally what the civil court system is for.

Also, as someone who has volunteered and raised money for survivors of sexual violence for decades now, this is not an either/or. You can raise money for survivors who, unlike Lively, lack the resources to get the help they need. IME high profile women speaking out on these issues tends to help the movement. It all helps. And there are lots of women who, like Lively, experienced much lower level harassment and discrimination in the workplace and told themselves "oh I'm not a real survivor, this isn't that big of a deal." But even these less severe experiences add up and can really impact people over time. It can hurt careers and impact your mental health. People deserve safe, respectful workplaces, regardless of their gender.

The other PP told us why, she's rich, pretty and blonde. She's not like them, they get to decide who the real victims are based on superficial criteria, not facts or law. How dare she, in their minds. Why not let Blake have her day in court? How does that hurt anyone?

Just because they did not settle yesterday does not mean that there can be no more settlement talks. They still have three more months to go.

My head just spins with what this must be costing everyone. I can’t imagine Blake wanting to take this all the way to trial. I’m betting yesterday was not fun and a trial will be even less fun.

I think her team should’ve dropped the case after Baldoni‘s lawsuit was tossed. They could have generated some really good headlines, and spun Justin as the loser. Led with the fact that his case had no merit, but that they didn’t want to continue with months and months of trial preparation and that Blake just wanted to move on or something and blame how society treats women who take the stand and so on and so forth. That would’ve been at least an out and saved them from this latest text and email dump that her team must have told her would not be allowed to remain sealed? I know they tried that, but that had to have been a long shot. Not to mention all these months of legal fees.

By now they could be turning the narrative and focusing on rebuilding her image. Instead they are in this holding pattern where they can’t start a new story until after the trial.
