But he left his home and was living with a trans woman and was rejecting his parents political beliefs. He stated in text messages sent to his romantic partner that his dad had become more right since Trump was elected and he didn’t agree with his dad. These dog whistles are meant to activate the unconscious prejudice and hatred within the intended audience without the audience even realizing it is happening to them. The language is coded to seem innocent for plausible deniability and it isn’t even possible for the target to understand what has happened to them. When extremists use these dog whistles, you need someone outside of the intended audience to recognize it, label it, and call it out.
