Florida Legislature is backing away slowly. DeSantis might force it anyway to get a job in the administration.

At the end of the day, there should be a national law against gerryamndering, but the GOP has refused to support it.

I guess for the 2026 cycle, they FAFO'd.

Agree, just adding that Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio were also jammed through by the GOP leadership.

Heh heh heh

“Some in the GOP said they have been caught off guard by the lengths Democrats have taken to counter their redistricting push.
“There was some naiveté across the board on how well [Democrats] would be able to quickly mobilize,” said a Republican operative, who like some others spoke on the condition of anonymity to give a candid opinion.

The redistricting scramble has frustrated many sitting Republicans in Congress who could be pushed out under the new maps or have seen their longtime districts change. In Indiana, GOP state legislators rejected intense pressure from Trump to draw more red seats, reluctant to cast aside the normal process for partisan gain.
Now the tit-for-tat could work out to something close to a draw.
“We should just call a truce on it and just say mid-cycle redistricting is a bad idea,” said Rep. Andy Harris, the lone Republican in Maryland’s congressional delegation, who would be targeted in a redraw there.”

TX put more Latinos in each district believing that Latinos had permanently moved right. I'm not suggesting that Dems have them, but I know that Republican support has significantly diminished.

Since the 1980's and particularly after Monica Lewinsky, the Dems have tried to be a party above the fray and in doing so, conceded braun and issue to the GOP.

This has been Newsome's plan all along. He actually dropped a map on Twitter that could eliminate nearly every Republican held Congressional seat in California. I think it would have left one GOP-held seat.

But isn’t the question WHY TF (and honestly I never wear!) didn’t the Dems do this after Karl Rove kicked off the GOP gerrymandering in the late 90s/early 00s?? I mean we knew this was coming. Is it it stupidity? Blindness? Heads in the sand? I just do not understand and no Dem party or candidate is getting my $$ (which they could, I’m a prime target) until I have confidence they will use it for things that will make a difference. I say this as I watch cnn while I make dinner and see the ads Trump are Noem are playing (btw, are those taxpayer funded??). Where are the Dem ads? Dem sponsoring podcasts? WTF are they spending there $$ on? Anyway, Gavin (formerly Pelaosi bit finally she has give up) you can send me 100x Texts and I’m not donating until I understand the black whole my $$ are going towards. Gerrymandering, this is. It a new game we are playing.
