People are making up the most implausible theories as to why parents requested she be declared after 11 days. They also left DR after 3 days, after bar footage was released.

Parents have committed no crime and would neither be pressured to drop nor lose ability to stay in US, it’s absurd.

They come from a culture that greatly prioritizes individual and family reputation. Their actions at 3 & 11 days are likely linked to release of footage, they also requested news channels stop airing it.

If she was trafficked she could still be alive. Riibe may be unaware. Others may be at risk. The investigation has all but stopped per DR sources. Without pressure, it protects tourism to sweep under rug.

Hindu religion also does not require such a request. It is so unusual there is no provision for it in DR law (or US).

There are 2 men heading down to the beach as the friends return. They were acting oddly in bar footage. Has there been any info re them being questioned? At least a week ago I saw that LE wanted to speak with others known to be on the beach at the same time.

Only focusing on passed out student and water may not only miss other suspects but put others in danger from them.

US sent FBI and HS, parents were not pressured.

I think they left after only 3 days when videos went public. I think father is motivated by shame and mother may not have been in agreement.

It is possible she was trafficked, even after he passed out.

Parents action has all but shut down searching.

It’s in interest of DR, not US, India or the poor girl to sweep under the rug after only 11 days.

^ it's hard enough to walk on beach sand when sober and in daylight with or without flip flops. It's surprising the group of young people were even able to make it from resort path to walk on sand in the early morning hours when still dark. And if the two young people did go in the water and made it out, again, surprising to know they were able to walk on that sand and on uneven grounds

It also doesn't mention the red flags we've read about, so not sure about that point.
