Watched the entire game. Battlefield should have won this game. 60% of processions just forced a little to much. Turnovers killed them. Oaktons D was good. Looked like it took a lot out of Battlefields offense 1st half. Great adjustment made by Battlefields coaches sending attack over to pressure ball. #11 was good for sure as were her teammates. Wish these 2 could have met earlier in season. Great game both teams.
Any team, including Battlefield, that doesn’t turn the ball over and controls possession should win the majority of the time. Oakton was the better team that day and more specifically their defense, especially #8 for Oakton, set the tone early with caused turnovers, ground balls, and clears.
Agreed. But I do have to say.. Battlefield looked to have more talent on the whole team. So congrats to Oakton for being able to pull out that win.
Based on your rationale Battlefield should have been the favorite in that game. I don’t think many saw it this way coming into the game. The way it played out Oakton’s defense, goalie, and offense were the better and more talented units. If you feel BF had the better talent then those individual players failed to play better as a team. They better learn to do this if they want to play at the next level.
By your rationale if Oakton is better in every area of the game (Offense, Defense, Goalie, more Talent) how do you win by only 1 goal? I thought both teams were great and each team had their strengths and advantages thus the 1 goal game.
I’m not the one who stated Battlefield should have won. You did. You are relentless, I’ll give you that but it won’t change the result. Just let it go. We barely remember who won the championship after the game let alone who lost. No need to keep trying to justify Battlefield’s participation. Good luck next season. As someone already posted 2023 is over.

Who is #11? I can’t find anything online about her.

Anonymous wrote:I saw both teams play this year and I went to the game. Heading in, I thought Oakton was the favorite. First of all, they had the best public school player in the state. #11 goes hard to goal and attacks loose balls. Plus, her handle! That’s a huge advantage in a really competitive game. Second, they played a more competitive schedule to prepare them. No one’s fault, BF’s schedule was difficult, but their district just isn’t as competitive.
All this being said, BF was a tough, gritty team that fought back when the chips were down. They played like their onfield leader, #23, the unheralded but laser focused/Uber competitive captain. A team full of #23s would beat any private school team! If my daughter was one of those BF players - I wouldn’t be worried about the woman she will become.
Congrats to those great Oakton players too! They were the hunted all year and they sealed the deal against a worthy foe. What a great game and a great season! I recommend some of you appreciate the great things about all of our kids and the awesome sport they play.
