I’m about to pull my two out of summer league because they are the only kids seemingly capable of distancing or masking, and they are both under 12, so unvaccinated. Could someone explain to me why you are so comfortable - nay, hell bent! - to not have your kids wear masks at crowded events? Outdoor or indoor, crowded is clearly a risk. I am not okay with my kids getting COVID. It’s not hard to enforce a little distance or a mask when distancing is hard.

The science is pretty clear - unvaccinated people need to mask or distance. Why are we abandoning it?

As far as I know, all of our division is good without. All the team reps have talked and we are on the same page. We will now talk w the team reps of our B meets. We will tell them we won’t enforce or change our distancing in clerk of course for when we host them. We have to talk to the pools that are hosting us. We will abide by their rules.

No. When there are meets at our pool we aren’t enforcing mask wearing. The coaches and volunteers for the other team are welcome to try to enforce wearing for their swimmers if they want to for some reason. When we go to other pools we will abide by their rules.

Yes, but I'm not sure what people are expecting. A mask mandate by the league was removed, which seemed to be a logical (and popular) decision. So now we go by the rules and expectation at the host pool.

No. When there are meets at our pool we aren’t enforcing mask wearing. The coaches and volunteers for the other team are welcome to try to enforce wearing for their swimmers if they want to for some reason. When we go to other pools we will abide by their rules.

Although our pool really is acting like 2019 a number of pools are not. So we keep masks on the table so when we tell everyone we will all be wearing masks it isn't a shock. I don't like it, but that is the reason. We have already heard from several teams that they will be strict on masks.


We are doing the same for the same reason - we aren't really enforcing it but we are saying it.



Will you not allow a kid to swim if they refuse to wear a mask?


At meets it will be whatever the two pools agree to and in that case absolutely the kid will not be allowed to swim.

If I had to guess the coaches and clerks of course will help enforce. Our team has junior coaches who mostly are in the team area making sure kids are where they need to be. The 11&U kids will almost definitely be reminded to put masks on.

PP questions like this make it seem like you or others are looking for a fight. I'll be telling my children to comply, even if I think it's dumb, because I don't want to have them removed from the team for non-compliance. As part of sign up we all agreed to abide by the rules, this is one of them at certain pools.

The NVSL is leaving it up to the pools to decide. Isn’t that what most people wanted? It seems some of you want the NVSL to tell them they can’t require masks, and that’s not going to happen.
