Yes that was my thought - it's like the third world or shady stuff that happens.in Italy where people pocket money rather than maintain. The focus in dc is entirely wrong.. livability is out of whack, but build more and demand to be recognized as a state! This Mayor, Council and GGW sux..can't believe our pole have so little integrity

Now, I’m honestly too scared to even drive into some of those areas. I cannot imagine living there and raising a family. OP needs to drive out to the suburbs and see the difference in lifestyle. Not perfect, but a completely different world. Your family’s safety should be top priority, IMO.
DCUM is just so disappointing these days. Like seriously we have to wade around in this sort of BS all of the time. So tiring. I wish you all would go off to Fairfax Underground or something.
The truth hurts: “At least 11 people were shot and another person was stabbed during a violent weekend in the District, according to D.C. police,” confirmed the Washington Post on Twitter.
“Three of the victims died, contributing to a homicide count that is rising for the fourth consecutive year. Police said one of the killings has been ruled as justified self-defense,” adds the newspaper.
The police know where the guns are. Or some of them at least - the registered ones. They need to tell those people to turn them. They have to start somewhere. Might as well be with the ones they actually know about.

Dude, I give zero f*cks about you. Can you please just let me walk my dog in peace?
That’s the problem...the loss of peace and security for average law abiding, tax paying residents, while the government bends over backward to accommodate those who take that peace and security. And everyone is basically on their own in DC. 911 is a failure, the cops don’t give a rip, even firehouses respond lackadaisically (I’ve witnessed it). The government counts on you to keep yourself secure. It’s an illusion. You are on your own.
+1. We are on our own but also required to pretend there is no problem with disorderly or criminal behavior. It's all getting excused and we are obliged to ignore it.

You do understand why he would do that right?
Because he has been indoctrinated to place importance on what random passerbys might be thinking if those randos are white?
No - because many white women see a black man and automatically become scared. I've seen it. I've seen white women freak out if a black man gets on an elevator, gets too close in the store, etc.

Anonymous wrote:Yep. Been here 27 years, 20 of them in the same house in Petworth. I’ve had it. Crime is out of control. The city is completely unsafe. Everything is a hassle. The mayor’s inability to prioritize crime has paved the way for petty crime like porch pirates, to completely run unabated, which chisels away at everyone’s sense of safety and quality of life. After nearly three decades, I hate it here.
