Lacrosse is one of the smaller sports in the United States. All the kids know one another. Kids from FL, NC, and even the New England states hop on DC area teams all the time. Look at Silante, True and Madlax National. The guest player thing is completely normal. No need to hate on ML or NL..it’s the new normal

At the Terps classic, Spallina was playing for Slainte.

It could be a pay to play situation. Who knows.

So sad that Stockholm Madlax parents or owner are throwing shade.

Wish it was only just FOGO position. They are bringing in "rented" attack as well. No loyalty to their players. If you can't beat the other local teams in the DMV - I guess you have to cheat to win!

Kid from NC definitely played with NL. He used to play Madlax 24 Capital & National team. Held back and now plays for Madlax 25 Capital & National team. Heard he also plays with Carolina Miners. He's friends with many of the Madlax 24 kids that left for NL and plays with them when it doesn't conflict with Madlax schedule.

As they get older many kids play multiple teams. Especially to get exposure to coaches.

There is nothing wrong in itself for a player to play on two teams.

Of course there are legitimate questions that might be asked, such as whether his family is paying for both teams or the other families are (unknowingly) subsidizing his participation in one; whether he is swooping in as a part-timer and taking time from full time players; whether both clubs know that he is playing for the other, and whether they care.

Of course clubs would prefer that their registered players play only for them, and a few have policies that you cannot guest play for competing clubs. But most will look the other way, or pay lip service that "we like our players to play as much lacrosse as they can," for fear that if they force somebody to pick one or the other, they might lose him/her.

Obviously a player cannot be rostered on two teams in the same tournament, or in the same season for HoCo. But if a player wants to play in one tournament for MadLax in Delaware on a Saturday and then for NextLevel in a different tournament in Baltimore on Sunday, there is nothing illegal or wrong. It is part of the game, like it or not.

Agreed. Sounds like someone who just doesn’t like ML, rather than someone who knows what they are talking about.

Not 2 years but there are more than a few born in 2007 and very close to 2 years. And ML has had players more than 2 years in the past and these players are ineligible to play on DC area teams come their senior years. These players usually transfer to post grad schools in high school but continue to play on their club team class division teams.
