If true, gets my respect.
Not so many of us that make it in the eyes of DCUM admit to this fact - especially in recent years when all of DCUM seems to equate FARMS with educational poison.
It's not true. For example: https://www.jayguan4boe.com/

Then, he should act like it and support FARMS/low income families and those schools should get a lot more than what they are getting.

Anonymous wrote:NP. Stephen Austin is the only candidate that was a FARMS kid himself. He is the only candidate with a Bachelor's of Fine Art and the only candidate that is a true finance professional.

Well I think it is helpful to have diverse backgrounds on the board. He has kids in MCPS...which is more than a lot of the other old times on the BOE. It is time for new blood.
What part of his background would add diversity to the backgrounds of the people on the BoE? As far as I know, he's the only candidate who is a man and lives in Bethesda/Potomac area - is that what you're talking about?

Please share your methodology for determining that he is "the smartest."
I like what he has to say. He is good at crunching numbers and dissecting the mess the BOE has made. He'll make positive changes.
Again, knowing about investments is not the same as knowing about budgets.
If he's a good number cruncher, he can apply for a job as a data cruncher with MCPS. But he has zero experience in education, and never once volunteered for something that shows he cares about education.
He's an investment guy so he cares about his property values, as most of us do, I'm sure. But nothing about his background tells me he cares about education.

I think there are some candidates that are part of the machine. I would not consider these candidates. I won't name there here, but they have been discussed on this forum.

Well, yes, the incumbent isn't running for reelection, so there will be "new blood" no matter what.
