Similar to ECNL not responding to the rumors that US Soccer may procure and fold it into a USSF DA program. No response from ECNL on that rumor as well.

True. But ECNL boosters have been waging war against USSF for years while USSF has simply worn the velvet glove in return.

USSF made a few major mistakes in handling the DA program which has allowed ECNL to persist and grow and that’s been part of the issue. If the federation has any fortitude, they would change the way they are doing business to make DA more attractive than ECNL for clubs, and if they were to do that along with restricting national team berths to DA clubs, they’d win the competition in a walk.

So you actually think that being in DA should be a requirement for national team? Nobody else? That's an interesting take.

“A possible clue about the federation’s intentions came last month, after COO Jay Berhalter — one of the DA’s chief architects and a candidate for the vacant CEO position — resigned and Will Wilson was named CEO. That same day, youth club North Carolina FC announced it would withdraw its top girls’ teams from the DA and move to the rival Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for the 2020-21 season.

The significance: Wilson served on NCFC’s board of directors. Cindy Parlow Cone, U.S. Soccer’s interim president following Carlos Cordeiro’s March 12 resignation, is a NCFC youth director. And Steve Malik, who sits on federation’s Board of Directors, is NCFC’s owner and chairman.

The reasonable question: Why would a club so deeply connected to the federation’s new leadership suddenly abandon the DA?“

Episode 256: The Development Academy Is Over

"This is not speculation.

It has already happened.

Now, it’s all about how we disseminate the information that is about to start flowing.

...."

So this is saying they are getting rid of all DA except "MLS DA", correct?

Any local club DAs will have to find different leagues and really can't call themselves 'DA'...or I guess for marketing they could like they call their 'pre DA teams' and their U16 that weren't DA this year.

OR--is it being implied that MLS DA also going away? And they are scrapping the entire thing? Was he basing this on any new announcement or still speculation?

I don't think it matter anyways. I've been around soccer in the DMV since the mid-70s and there is always the next shiny new thing. This was just another.

coming to a club near you

Anonymous wrote:If this has in fact happened then those teams should be welcomed into ecnl. This’ll be only hope in having a season next year because many family’s are worried about travel. This could be very competitive.

ECNL will certainly expand in the future but not next year. For next year the best-positioned leagues will be the more local leagues that are team-based, like NCSL or EDP. The team-based leagues give a lot more flexibility. Games can be rescheduled or moved due to field closures or a sick referee, and it only impacts the two teams playing not an entire club.

LOL. the expert doesn’t even know there wasn’t any tiering on the girls side, but he’ll “do his research”.

“If and when it happens...”

Sounds credible to me

All repeating the same tweet from last week.

The U.S. Soccer Federation has decided to shut down the U.S. Soccer Development Academy program for both boys and girls, effective immediately, multiple sources told The Athletic on Tuesday.

How is "multiple sources today" = "last week"?

No sources listed and only last weeks tweet keeps getting repeated.

Also amazing that all the info is coming from ECNL.

Is this you?

that looks like ECNL PR!
