He had some kind of preexisting respiratory health issue. I heard he was in serious condition, is he critical now?

I am still within the 2 week window for travel insurance. If I purchase it, it will cost $400, and then I’ll get my money back for cancelling for any reason (minus $900, I believe). So I will be out a total of $1300 between the cost of insurance plus the Co-pay or whatever they call it.

So what do I do? Buy the insurance? What are the chances that Disney cancels this? No way in hell am I getting on the ship. One of my kids has asthma and I do not want to screw around.

Honestly, I think it's a pretty low chance that they'll cancel. Worst case scenario is that they might have to cancel a port but the cruise will go on. I am not an expert that is just my own opinion. Take it for what you will.

....before it got out of control...China has been in a tailspin since December.

Disney is never going to cancel that $10 million cruise. EVER. Buy your travel insurance and just be out $1,300. Especially since you have no plans on getting on the ship.

San Diego in early April? The plan was to tourist it up. If American will let me cancel without penalty, I probably will.

American is waiving change fees for tickets where travel is from now through the 16th.

OP here, travel is domestic to California where a lot flights to/from Asia are based (combined with more likelihood of undetected cases in tourist locales where we would be). The 16th date is only for Italy and select countries in Asia where they fly.

And it seems to be lost on you that travel is how this thing has made it to nearly 90 countries worldwide.

But lots of people who stayed put got it too!

Thanks to travelers who can’t stay put. Just travelers from or to Italy exported Coronavirus to some 40 countries.

Leading Harvard epidemiologist says modeling predicts that 40-70% of the world’s adult population will become infected with COVID-19. This is not an hysterical interview and personally I found it very sobering but worthwhile.

I care for an elderly parent, so yes I’m quite worried about contracting the virus and passing it along. However, I could just as easily become infected traveling as I could going to the grocery store. I don’t think we will travel over spring break though. Seems like borrowing trouble. https://youtu.be/iDelUkpFm60

I’m traveling within the US, so no, I am not worried about that.
