Beth El came out against the road diet, so that is in correct. INOVA deferred to the fire department but expressed significant concerns with the road diet, particularly for west bound travel, so that is incorrect as well.

Do you have a citation for the Beth El position?

It will be interesting to see what INOVA has to say now that the road has changed - from what I have heard emergency vehicles traverse it every day, with less problem than on four lane roads without center turn lanes.

There’s a study in ALXNow today about a woman on Taylor Run Parkway whose car has been hit several times by passing cars. People in the street have asked the city to widen the parking lanes do there would be a buffer. This takes only some new painted lines. Nothing has happened

Rather than solve a real problem like this one, the City is painting lines, installing lane blocks and white pylons on a road where no one parks.

Talked about mixed priorities.

So, they're for the people who live there, vs. the people who want to drive through there fast on the way to somewhere else?

You do know that there are thousands and thousands of people that live on roads directly connected to that particular stretch of Seminary, right? They are now held hostage by this. If you're OK with that than you're a dick.

"Held hostage"?

This is the biggest lie I've read or heard in all of this Seminary Road bike lane discussion!

Just wait until the VA DOV votes to put HOV South bound lanes directly onto Seminary Road. It will be a cluster everywhere on the west to east of Alexandria City.! Way to go Alexandria City council and hired hands.

The south bound 395 HOV ramp is already HOV 24/7 on Seminary. Are you talking about the HOT lane conversion? If so, it is the north bound ramp that was the concern, and that is already open as a HOT lane.

Incorrect. A large number who lived on the connecting roads were against the road diet. Most (not all) homeowners on Seminary, who predominately live in mansions set back from Seminary, were in favor of it.

Justin is very popular in DelRay which spawned him. He is getting all of his ideas from the DelRay hipsters. He came to our neighborhood civic association and was using DelRay lingo that most of our older neighbors could not understand. He is very sensitive about growing up in PG County and went to VCU and has no advanced degrees.

1. I guess used language about complete streets and multimodalism that some of you could not understand. But that many better informed people can. Not just Del Ray hipsters, but plenty of others.

2. Your personal attacks are nasty and are not helping your cause. Is that why you set your facebook group to private and kicked out people who are not "reliable".

The group was only set to private after a city council member who was reading without joining called his fellow citizens conspiracy theorists. Only two people that I am aware of were removed. One was a huge supporter of Justin who lost her shit and threatened to dox members of the group, which is crazy. The other was a troll who couldn’t stop calling other posters some pretty unsavory names.

When it was public I read it - it DID have conspiracy theories. Which CM Jackson was repeating.

And Option 3 supporters have been doxxed - including right here in this thread (ask Jeff if you don't believe me)

Look, every side and most websites have crazies; I am not going to disagree with that. When this issue was coming before council I have BPAC members email me and tell me there were irrational folks in that group, but they were not comfortable speaking against those folks.

I listened to Jackson's speech and I did not hear her repeat any conspiracy theories. If you can tell me what she said that you believe is a conspiracy theory, that would be helpful.

I am also aware Option 3 supporters were doxxed; I spoke with some of them about that and am sorry that happened to them. I am 100% sure that they would agree that is not a justification for doxxing others, and that trolling and doxxing people is grounds for removal from a Facebook page.

Is this Justin Wilson?

Ha - obviously not because I support Jackson and disagree with the road diet.

DP.

When Wilson came to our civic association, he tried to talk about streets and would not talk about MacArthur and its ongoing problems. We have given up and are moving to Arlington. I really don’t understand why Alexandria can’t hire a first rate school superintendent and improve the schools.
Safe streets, scooters, bike lanes, and affordable housing are laudable goals that I support. But Arlington offers that sling with schools with good principals and teachers. Attention is really in the wrong places if Alexandria wants to retain and attract middle class families

The Mayor and Council do not hire the supt of schools - the elected school board does.

Yup, but the school board consults with and accepts instructions from the mayor and the councillors every time, the council completely controls the school budget, the school board doesn't borrow funds and the council borrows for the school board, so the real decisions are always made by council or nowadays by the mayor who tells council what to do.

The Council consults with the SB almost (completely) entirely on capital budget issues. And the Council decided to vote more money for the SB budget (that was a big issue in the last election) They do NOT control curriculum, etc. Maybe you think they should threaten to cut the SB budget to get their way, but that they have not chosen to do that does not put school issues on them, IMO
