If only the idiots who are hung-up on Trump-Hitler comparisons were as loud about post-2008 austerity being like post-WWI austerity, we wouldn’t be talking Trump.

Yes, let’s completely derail the topic at hand to discuss “austerity” or more specifically things like banking reforms necessary at the time to rein in the mess of the 2008 crash which caused billions in losses. Were you sad to see the loss of interest only, negative amortization, or no doc no income loans and tightened access to credit from banks so they could loan money for janitors in Florida to buy $900,000 houses anymore?

Or maybe we can analyze how trump’s nationalist rhetoric is similar to hitlers again.

No - new poster.

But I am tired of my bank getting TARP money while they called all my loans because it turns out they were completely over-leveraged. I am tired of trying to resolve the resultant litigation when the CEO of the bank is appointed to the state commission that sets judges salaries. And then after the work out I should live in austerity. So, yes, this poster has a very valid point. Multiple my experiences and guess what you get a Trump.

Right. Just like Germany circa. 1933. I guess I’ll just keep saying until you people start to realize what your role in history will be. Just like Hitler, Trump is preying on a dumb, greedy and fearful electorate. Even with your legitimate grievances, you are still dumb and greedy first.

Read this and then tell me it doesn’t sound eerily familiar. The camps didn’t open in Hitler’s first few years in office. But he started the campaign from day one.

Until Trump that is. I have literally zero doubt that if he could kill 6 million “Libs” to get re-elected, he’d have zero moral doubt about doing so. I also have no doubt that there are many Republicans in office who would let him. I also have no doubt that millions of Trumpsters would cheer him on. Wake up and stop being so naive.

If you believe this then you haven’t paid attention to trump. At all. He loves all Americans. He loves the constitution. You’re on here talking about killing people he disagrees with? He wants the America promised in the constitution to be the America our kids inherit and the America we live in. I’d you haven’t realized this yet about him you simply haven’t been paying attention. And that’s on you, not trump.

Ha! You sound just like a patriotic German, circa 1933. This will be my last time saying this today. You people are sooooooooo dumb.

Like I said, you simply aren’t paying attention.

Hey dumbass. The question wasn’t whether Trump is an anti-Semite. The question was whether there are accurate comparisons between Trump and Hitler. And the answer to that question is a resounding yes.

DP. Plenty of morons on this thread have been claiming he is anti-Semitic. Between that and the Hitler “comparisons,” I just marvel that ignorant people like you actually exist.

And yet none of you Trump supporters has managed to spin/defend his praise of the "good bloodlines of the anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi Henry Ford. Huh.

Yesterday Trump praised Henry Ford's "bloodlines." Maybe you don't get the reference, or think it's just an odd turn of phrase. But, trust me, the neo-Nazis who know all about Ford's connection to Hitler got the reference.

+100000. I used to get annoyed when people said Trump was evil or like Hitler. But after 3 1/2 years, i now realize they are right.

Honestly, this is a disgusting thread and I can’t believe it hasn’t been deleted.

Exactly. Plus, if Americans were as terrible as Nazis, why are people flooding our borders? Wouldn't there be a mass exodus?

This thread is truly fascinating. Some really thoughtful, and frighteningly accurate comparisons being made. And then some dumbass Trumper chimes in with sheer idiocy. You people are SOOOOOOOOO dumb. 🤔

You’ve repeated this three times so far on this thread. Your utter lack of vocabulary and need to use that expression as a constant crutch is so sad.

When people are truly dumb talk in a way they understand. You people are soooooooooo dumb.

There is NO comparison to Hitler in the free world.

The propaganda tactics, the rhetoric and the start with christian nationalism and marginlizing "the other" including the use of language like insects/cockroaches/snakes etc is an exact parallel. No, he isn't gassing Jews, but neither was Hitler in 1933.

You seriously need help. When has he referred to *anyone* using those terms? You are gross and shameful. I agree with the PP who said it is utter desperation to dig up a disgusting, year old thread. You people were sickos then and sadly, sickos still.

Trump called Jay Inslee a snake

https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/03/06/donald-trump-jay-inslee-coronavirus-123114

Is Inslee Jewish? NO, he is not.

That wasn't the issue. The issue was whether he called *anyone* [emphasis in original] a snake etc. And so he did.

And? Calling someone a "snake" with no other context (religious slur, etc.) means nothing. The PPP said Trump uses language to marginalize "the other" (meaning Jews). Trump has never called Jews by derogatory names. And you know it. So stop twisting words.

Who said the other is "Jews." Not the PP, and not Hitler himself. Hitler also marginalized liberals, the media, gypsies, gays and all non-Germanic people.

Trump marginalizes liberals, the media, immigrants and Muslims. He says nice things about Jews and Israel, but has also retweeted some anti-semitic memes.

By the way, I don't think Trump should be compared to Hitler, but not because they have nothing in common. There are better comparisons among the authoritarian populists of the world. Trump is closer to Silvio Berlosconi and Jair Bolsonaro.

And liberals marginalize Trump voters every single day. As does the media. What’s your point?

"Marginalize" was PP's word, not mine. The proper word here is "dehumanize." Which we've seen more and more among regular people of in the Internet Age. Trump is the first President to make dehumanization a part of his brand. I hope he is the last, but I fear he is not.

One of the unfortunate consequences of Hitler comparisons is that even when accurate, they totally miss the real problem in Germany. The real problem was that the anger and negativity he embodied was widespread among the German people all across the political spectrum. He was a dangerous consequence of their problem, not the cause, but they did not recognize it. And I think the same is true today on both the left and the right.

Trump voters marginalize themselves by supporting an overt racist, sexist conman who has never had any self-made successes in his life. He is not a businessman, he is a money launderer. He is not a family man, he barely knows his teen age kid exists, has had two divorces and multiple affairs and shows no regard or respect towards women. Everyone who has left the administration has commented on his lack of intellect, to put it politely. The country under his Administration is politically, economically and socially weaker than it was when he was sworn in.

Thanks for sharing your opinion - for the umpteenth time. Millions disagree with you. The end.
