Her thigh was spilling into my seat and squeezing me out. By the time we landed, the leg that was touching her thigh (there was no way to move my leg away) was drenched in sweat.

Middle seat woman is passive-aggressively complaining on her phone to someone. Woman is silent while people scout for new seat, and then window woman decides to escalate it. She calls the FL and says that she "won't be verbally abused by this bitch" Really? After 30 seconds of silence? And the only comment directed at them - in response to aisle guy - was "I eat salads."
Who was using foul language? Blonde woman gets defensive and then gets attacked by the other passengers, who apparently think she has been verbally abusing the fat people. I thought they were far worse.
Did she handle things well? Hell, no. She should have just quietly asked the flight attendant to move her. The passive aggressive stiff was rude. But the fat passenger started the abusive name calling.
Of course that’s how you would view the video. There is a certain group of ppl (i.e. that middle seat woman) who think they can do and say whatever they want with no repercussions. Then when someone calls them out or responds to their behavior they are shocked and confused.
If that women didn’t want a confrontation she shouldn’t have been talking negatively on the phone for them to hear and then making a scene. She got exactly what she deserved from everyone on the flight.
You have got to be kidding me. So fat passenger was right to threaten to kick her ass and call her a bitch for saying she was getting "squished" but would "at least stay warm"? Do you have any idea how much worse fat passenger's behavior was? She threatened her. She yelled at her. She accused her of verbal abuse. And people on the flight believed it - even though the portion was saw showed none of the actual abuse coming from the middle seat passenger.
Look you don’t get to be passive aggressive, make a scene and think no one is going to be upset. So yes, the fat passenger was right to stand up for herself. You don’t call what that unkempt woman said was verbal abuse bc you think saying “I eat salad” and “MAGA” and being passive aggressive isn’t a big deal. You act like that in your daily life and haven’t come across anyone to call you out. Well when you actually act this way with the wrong person they will call your behavior out bc it isn’t ok. You aren’t the victim bc someone gave what you put out right back to you.
Don’t start a situation if you aren’t ready for the repercussions. And yes that shabby woman in the middle seat started it.
You must be fat. Nobody except a huge person could possibly think that the innocent woman being forced to squash in the middle of two enormous fat people for hours - fat people who know damn well that they’re too fat so refuse to sit next to EACH OTHER - is “starting” anything.
Anonymous wrote:NP. The two obese people very clearly KNEW they were too big to fit into the seats and so that's why they put the empty seat between them. They are outrageous to expect a paying customer to squash between them.
People that obese also often have trouble wiping their anal area after bowel movements, etc, and so it's also likely that there was a smell involved. Even more reason to not want to be practically sitting under them the whole flight.
Outrageous.
The airlines are likely bound by anti-discrimination laws, so I think what they need to do is:
1) Start charging by the pound for both luggage and people. Then at least they could 'automatically' allocate people a seat size based on their pounds. Since the weight on board has a direct impact on the costs for the airline, they should be legally allowed to do this.
2) Have a rule whereby if someone is too wide to walk comfortably (e.g. within x seconds) in a narrow tunnel then they either cannot fly or they need to pay some sort of surcharge to be accommodated (e.g. in special rows with more space around and in front of each seat and an exit nearby). They could say that it's for safety reasons, because all passengers need to be able to move down the aisle freely and easily if a quick exit is required in an emergency. It could be a tunnel (without roof) that you need to walk through at the gate before you present your ticket. Kind of like at a cattle ranch. And if you don't fit that day, you can't board.
I think both of those ideas, especially implemented simultaneously, should be PC enough to be legally allowed, and they would improve flight comfort dramatically.

United’s policy agrees with you. The fat people (although we really stop calling them fat because those people are WAY worse than simply just “fat”) just decided that the policy doesn’t apply to them. And that everyone else should need to deal with their size. The definition of entitled.
Anonymous wrote:So United is actually one of the airlines that requires obese passengers to purchase an extra seat if they can not put the arm rests down or encroach on the adjacent seat. The couple clearly didn't purchase additional seats because they were in a 3 seat row. Why didn't United address this at the gate before everyone boarded and follow their own policy?
United -
If you can’t buckle your seatbelt (with an extension if necessary) and fit into a seat with the armrests down — and without encroaching “significantly” on the adjacent space — you must purchase an additional seat or pay for an upgrade to a roomier seat on United. The carrier recommends buying two seats at the time of booking, at which time you’ll pay the same fare for the second seat; if you wait until the day of travel, you’ll pay the fare available that day. If no additional seats or upgrades are available, you’ll have to rebook on the next flight with availability. (United will waive change fees.)
