I think prior posters are conflating two networks. There is the straight out high school network enjoyed by the Landon, Gonzaga, StA and Preps of the region (dematha might still be part of the is group). Commercial real estate anyone? That’s separate from the lax network which is more of a college thing.

Not the PP and I have lived in the area for 50 years. This is an area where people come and go and alumni networks are important. I have never once heard of someone getting a job based on a HS alumni network. This is a lacrosse forum so it is same to assume that these are kids that will likely look to play college lacrosse. Schools like W&L, UVA, Ivies, Tufts, ect.. do have very strong alumni networks. I know of companies in finance and commercial real estate that do like to hire lacrosse players. At what point to you bypass the college alumni network to rely on the HS one??

Given all this info, I would choose Prep for their academics, athletics, recruiting history, and alumni network.

I thought STA parents and alums were above having to fall back on their alumni network.

STA should really just drop down to the MAC.

It’s college placement for athletics is no better than any of other IAC schools, some could argue its worst.

Other than baseball and crew, why would a young and promising soccer, lacrosse basketball, or even wrestler consider looking at the school

The athletic placement of recruits across the league is far superior to STA across several sports. GP placed several of its lacrosse players into Ivy League schools, Landon sent few of their football players into the Ivy League, bullis did the same on lax and football.

I really don’t understand the draw to STA anymore for any prospective family whose son is also a star in their sport and can get it done in the classroom.

Yes, but it’s never been STA’s year...ever. And this year they talked a big game themselves when they were undefeated in preseason play. That quickly got squashed once they played their first IAC game. Sorry. At least Prep went undefeated in regular IAC play, STA would give anything to be able to do that.

Nobody cares about the regular season title (which isn't a title). Every year, Prep dads on this forum remind us it is Prep's year. Every year they are wrong.
