Cohen’s original story had him falling in a sword for Trump:

I did this all on my own. Trump knew nothing.

Trump stick with this telling of the tale on AF1 when asked by AP.

Rudy and Trump invented a new story. Trump backed the new story. Cohen, whose legal fees are being paid in part by the Trump Campaign, said it was incorrect.

Trump says Rudy has his facts wrong and is still learning on the job.
