Sounds like you can’t read. The principal already backed down. The only questions are whether that boosts teacher morale and whether he’s lost so much face that his departure is inevitable.

Dear Haycock Community,

This past Tuesday, April 3, at our monthly PTA meeting, I shared part of our academic vision for Haycock for the 2018-2019 school year. The meeting covered topics such as the implementation of best practices and a discussion surrounding departmentalization.

Upon reflection of the feedback that I heard from everyone present, I believe there is a need to pause the process of changing departmentalization for next school year. We plan to get additional input and feedback from all stakeholders--staff, parents, and community members--over the course of the 2018-2019 school year.

Going forward, we pledge to continue to involve the entire staff in the decision-making process and we also pledge to increase communication to the families around future ideas for our wonderful school.

Please know and trust that we are committed to providing a warm, respectful, and supportive atmosphere for each member of our school family and we will continue to share and highlight the great practices in place here at Haycock.

Sounds like Zuluaga and Pearson supported the changes. Guess it’s one way to shrink the achievement gap in Region 2.

Kudos to the parents for supporting the teachers on this. Haycock parents aren't perfect but - like most parents - they care about their kid's education and are involved. The principal is tone-def - he is in way over his head on this, and really his lack of experience as a principal is to blame.
