1) Southern universities were only forced to desegregate in the early 1960s. I can assure you that did not mean that black applicants were immediately given "preferential treatment" in admissions. The grandparents of an 18 year old today would have been going to university in the late 1960s and again, I can assure you at that point that they would not have been given "preferential treatment" in college admissions.

Marriage between different races was still illegal in some states until 1967 when the Supreme Court struck it down. That is only 50 years ago. The fact that the Supreme Court had to strike it down means that at that time racial discrimination was still going strong.

I grew up in flyover country in the 1970s and racial discrimination was rife back then and quite out in the open. Nowadays the people I grew up with won't come out directly with their racial bias the way they did in the 1970s, but it's there all right. You think that blacks who were born after the Civil Rights era were automatically shielded from racial prejudices that were hard wired into whites for generations?

Are theee kids centuries old? Irish were discriminated against to in the 1800s, where's my special treatment? Were irish seen with negative stereotype just by being irish? Were irish not called for interview with the exact same resume as a white man but name changed to Tamika? Were irish made to live in ghettos by creating school districts that out prices blacks from getting in due to high real estate prices? I can go on and on.

Do not judge someone until you lived in their shoes for some time. If you compare Irish against the jews or asians they fall way short. Look at the majority irish population in the Appalachia?

Not when the wrongs is as vile and evil as slavery. Not when the evil on blacks continues to this day when blacks get jail and whites get community service for drug possession. Like I said you won't know until you and your family suffer from slavery and everything else the blacks have been subjected to. Well over half of Appalachia will be in jail if they are treated like blacks for marijuana possession.

Have YOU, or any of your living relatives, experienced slavery? I, on the other hand, listened to my grandmother cry as she showed me old photos of her mother, sister, brother, SIL, and six young children, who were murdered for being Jewish. She lived out the remainder of her days feeling guilty that she escaped, and the rest of her family killed. That didn't stop her own kids from going to college and becoming professionals.

Stop blaming external influences and take responsibility where you can. Not everything is someone else's fault.

Emulate them? Are you kidding? The Jewish people in this country would hate that. That would mean that all the top jobs at elite universities would be given to blacks and they would only promote other blacks. Most everyone in power in the media, banking, and Hollywood would be black. Harvard, Yale, etc would be mostly black. Jewish people will never let this happen. They may be only 2% of the population but they make damn sure they are the 1%. If anyone points out how Jews always look out first for other Jews especially in elite admissions they give you the one two punch and call you a Nazi. They say they are discriminated against and call the NAACP. Some rabbi had a fit that Princeton was not Jewish enough at 25%. What happened in Nazi Germany was horrible but plenty of non Jews lost their lives trying to defeat Hitler. In this country Jewish people have lived a life of privilege. It is a lie that Jews are smarter than African Americans.

The difference is this - that while the Holocaust and slavery broke apart families - separated men from women, husbands from wives, brothers from sisters - the Jewish culture, b/c the Holocaust period was shorter than slavery, could still focus on intact families. The family unit and the traditions surrounding a shared religion keep people together.

They're not privileged. That's a pretty sick statement, PP. It's called survival.

If, as you say, ". . . Jews always look out for other Jews . . . " you should be asking, "Why is this?" It's something to envy. But you sound jealous.

Remember that plenty of non-blacks helped fight against slavery, too. So what's your point there?

Oh, I completely agree with you. My point is, if white people think this change in life policy will benefit them, they are deluding themselves. I wonder though if it does go through and Asians compete out Caucasians whether the policy will be reversed.

I think the only way colleges will be able to counteract removing race from admissions is by putting much more emphasis on family income.

Have you ever thought that the white people want to change the policy not because it will benefit them, but because it will be fair for everyone, including Asian kids?
