She's my best friend for over 20 years. We were shocked by the behavior and felt disrespected by their actions.

colleagues (who you barely know) that you run into at a vineyard and ask them to attend a low key barbecue. She gets so drunk, lays on the dog bed on living room floor, baring her ass, and husband just keeps on talking. We thought they'd never go home.

House guests who let their kids raise hell, kick down pressure baby gates (taking a chunk out of the wall), spill food all over the family room, jump on furniture. When we ask them to stop, they ignore us and so do the parents. It was terrible.

We have a Mercedes SUV. I usually bring dessert to dinner whenever we are invited. Is a dessert insufficient to bring to a dinner party?
We host all the time and I don't count on guests bringing dishes. I am preparing to feed my guests. They are welcome to bring something but don't have to. Most people bring dessert or alcohol.
We take alcohol if I can't get to Wegmens or Whole Foods to pick up a dessert.
Hell of a lot of difference between a Wegman's or Whole Foods pie and a Kroger one.
OK, I have never been to a Krogers. Don't think they have them by where I live. Is it so different than a Giant or Shoppers?
It's related to Ralphs on the West coast. Not sure if it's related to Giant but it's probably about that level. It's a giant supermarket chain in the south
I still don't see the big deal. I bought an apple pie and pumpkin pie from Wegmens. I think the apple pie was $10 and pumpkin pie was $9.
As someone who has been to both many times I can tell you there's a big difference. Wegmans has great bakery items. I actually know people in the south who refuse to shop at Kroger at all and will only go to HEB, Central Market or others. I personally like Kroger but I would never, ever get a pie from there

None of this would bother me. I guess because I am not some anal person who expect house-guests to behave like they are beholden to me. My house guests can help themselves to any food and drink they want, borrow my car, sleep late, nap, order take out, do their laundry, expect new tolietaries, bath sheets and fresh bed linens etc. They can tell me their dietary restrictions and they can come shopping or sightseeing with me.
Now I'm getting paranoid. I hate stuffing and cranberry sauce. If I say I am not a fan of this, does that make me a rude guest? I eat most of everything else.
