From Trump's standpoint "mission accomplished" because not one of his supporters are going to be fazed by what he said, even as he got hours of media coverage for free during the day and into the evening.
Trump played the media .................
I don't think the free media coverage played as well with independents and undecideds as you and he may have hoped.
I have no idea how it would have played with independents. But his moniker of "crooked Hillary" and referencing the private server and emails are meant to reinforce the distrust with which Clinton is viewed by almost 70% of the electorate. If she loses the election, it will be because she is so distrusted.
In the meantime, the media (CNN) is still talking about Trump instead of yesterday's events at the convention.
BTW, I am not a Trump supporter - would never vote for him - but I am at times in awe of how he is able to manipulate the media to get tens of millions of dollars of free publicity. I know those who dislike him can't see beyond that dislike.

That answer is easy. People with a filter a FUN! They make great TV. They are the tactless uncle it's fun to watch at Thanksgiving. He says whatever the crap he wants. If he gets called on it, it's all "Oh, I was just kidding... .can't you take a joke?" It's amusing, until it is directed at you.
People with no filter are a lot less fun to work with.
They are even less fun to work with when they have a job in the public eye, where building relationships with others is important.

Sooooo, is it presidential to joke about such a thing? I can't imagine any of our past presidents even joking about such a thing in a public setting.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:We really should stop throwing the word treason around. For the umpteenth time, one cannot hack a non-existent server. If the Russians or anyone else did hack the server before it was removed from operation and wiped clean, they have the information already. If the emails are private there are no national security implications. If they do contain non-private emails that are classified that she deleted she obviously lied.
IMO, and it is pure conjecture, I think there were communications about the Clinton Foundation.
I suspect there are Republicans who believe that she deleted compromising emails. I have no idea whether she did or not. But the Clinton campaign seems to be concerned.
Leon Panetta, former head of the CIA, apparently is going to talk about Trump's remarks. IMO, it will play into Trumps's hands and the media and Trump will be talking about Panetta's remarks non-stop about this tomorrow.
Trump's supporters and most Republicans will not be detracted by Panetta or anyone else. For them, even those who don't really like Trump, the greater evil by far is Clinton. It is the polar opposite of what some Democrats who don't care for Hillary feel - Trump is the greater evil.
+1
Sadly that didn't stop the dishonest media by pushing this false narrative to deflect. Hillary's servers have been wiped clean and offline for a year or two. How can Trump "invite" Russians to hack them? I guess Russians can fly to New York, sneak in to Hillary's basement and steal the empty hard drives?

Starting next week, he will already be getting national security briefings (as they do for all presidential candidates). I got a chill down my spine already when I heard in on NPR. He will blurt out something or other to score a point. National security people are also worried but can't do anything about it because they can not seem to favor a candidate over the other.

Their need is probably greater anyway.
Because your code is better. But since you cost more, you don't get the job and the company gets bad, ugly code.

Change that to HRC's dishonesty is compulsive and pathological and you would be accurate.
Face it we have two candidates who both lie - Hillary does it intentionally and Trump, for the most part, does it because he has no filter between his mouth and his brain.
You give him too much credit. He is also plain dumb when it comes to political matters. I think a POTUS needs a filter, don't you? Isn't that why Biden kind of gets made fun of.. because he also sort of shoots his mouth off without thinking.
I agree with most of what you say. The issue is why he appeals so much to millions of Americans. And if you think it is racism, you are just plain wrong though I am sure that there are some who are racists. I say this because I know people who are voting for Trump and they are not racist by any stretch of the imagination. They are just disgusted with Hillary Clinton and the establishment and feel that something must be done to shake things up and they know that Hillary sure as hell will not do it.
A couple of them actually voted for Obama.
Until there is an an attempt to understand why these people find Trump appealing without attributing it to pat answers like uninformed voters and bigots, you and others will continue to be frustrated by his popularity.
But don't you think voting for someone who is not competent for the position simply for the purpose of change is dangerous? Some of his supporters are hoping that his advisers and other seasoned Repubs will reign him in, but as a POTUS, what he says on national TV and how he says it matters.
Again, I agree with you that having an uninformed person as president is unwise. I also think that having an individual like Hillary who is well informed but has terrible judgement and is dishonest to boot is also very troublesome.
I really don't know what the answer is because IMO we have two very flawed candidates. FYI, I am a Bernie supporter who has voted for Democrats forever and a day but I will not vote for Hillary.
If Trump becomes president, it will be because we presented the country with an unacceptable alternative to Trump. It is not because of racism or uninformed voters or any such thing although I am sure that Hillary supporters will blame it on those factors and on the liberals who refused to vote for her.
