Anonymous wrote:Why we are blaming ourselves and the parents for VYS's failure? Shouldn't the VYS Board be accountable for their actions? Yes, they are volunteers.... but, thousands of families put their trust and $$ in their hands. It is disheartening how they make such outragious decisions and changes to a club that was thriving ON THIER OWN WITH NO INPUT FROM THE PEOPLE THAT WOULD BE AFFECTED, only to destroy it. The board created this ugly atmosphere. All of the false accusations regarding the previous tech team have come to light as the plan to change the club has failed. Their personal opinions drove the actions that have led to the rather quick demise of a club that we all used to enjoy. Now, karma is biting them in the ass. The only ones really paying the price are our kids. I feel sorry for the reputation that VYS is making for itself because of the frustration and anger that this irresponsible BOD has created. They can say that their business plan is effective and some programs are succeeding..hmmmmm- how many kids are registered for the club, and programs compared with previous years? #'s do not lie ...
I would have had more respect for the board if they would have taken ownership and stepped aside before it got this desperate so that a new board could attempt to clean this up and save our club.

How do you know it wasn't me? (It wasn't, but how do you know?)
And no, a lot of that dirty laundry belongs to people who are no longer associated with VYS. In some cases, maybe they never were.
It doesn't matter who called me a prick, what matters is that your club members and former members take ownership of the club's image. And since there appears to be very little in debating the truth of many of the assertions made in this thread the negative impact goes unchallenged.
Are there negative experiences expressed by other people regarding their clubs? Yes, the difference is many of those people recognize that in many instances it is a personal grievance with a particular set of circumstances that are pretty relatable to all travel soccer families, and while they complain, they generally do not mention the club or the coaches.
The image of VYS that is portrayed by people affiliated with your club is that of a tire fire. Getting mad at me for pointing that out as an outsider does not change neither the image nor my impression. Pointing out the faults in other clubs will not rectify your own club's faults either.
You want to start to make things at your club better? Start by letting this thread and others like it die and slide off the top of this page.
Again -- amid the nastiness and silliness, a legitimate discussion is taking place. VYS made a risky move and hired a British technical director who didn't know much about the NoVa soccer landscape. It didn't work out. So what next?
If you're trying to suggest that VYS people (which would include random parents) should just ignore some of the negativity here, that's a fair point to an extent. In some cases, correcting obvious mistakes is warranted. Endlessly engaging with nonsense? Sure, that's a bit much.
But the thread isn't going to die soon. Not in a time of major transition.
And again -- pointing out the existence of trouble in other clubs isn't "abusive husband" behavior here. It's "the grass isn't greener" behavior, and it's pointing out that the unusual fixation on VYS on this board isn't necessarily a function of VYS itself. It's a fluke of who's on this board and who isn't.
I've got no skin in the game so I don't care whether any or all of the VYS parents stop posting here, I'm just telling you how it looks from the outside. And that negative image translates to all the parents in the club, whether they know about this site or not. When you speak anonymously you in effect are representing all of VYS whether you realize it or not. I don't know that it is U10 Mia's mom being negative, all I know is a VYS parent is being negative. And when my kid plays against VYS and I see the parents on the sideline I can only imagine that one or many of them have been posting here and my opinion has already been formed.
