Really. I've met many intelligent white men, but I've also met quite a few who were pushed along by affirmative action and therefore didn't have the skills necessary to do the job right.
Except of course that when white men promote unqualified white men, we don't officially call it "affirmative action".

The white man is interested in the black man only to the extent that the black man is of use to him. The white man's interest is to make money, to exploit.
Really? mass exodus at my last job where the boss has used all sorts of discriminatory language to divide workers by race
I'd say the "boss" (and I use that term loosely.) is exploiting his folks to create an environment that benefits him.

Lots of pretty words that add up to nothing. You have no solution. And if you do, it's the same that I've been trying to get through to you: it's up to the individual! There is no one size fits all solution.
It REALLY pisses me off that whites have created this system of dysfunction in the black race and then you have the gall to get pissed/frustrated that we haven't cleaned up our act. Nevermind that the oppression was govt sanctioned as little as 50 years ago.
Are you truly curious about why all blacks don't have their shit together? You think hundreds of years of oppression and generational poverty can be solved in 50 years? By your reasoning, there should be NO underclass white people in the US. Without this country's history of oppression working against them, what could possibly be the excuse for the underachievement?

Yes -- I realize it's unconnected to him being stopped and no I don't believe that the punishment for stealing $40 worth of cigars is being shot. It just demonstrates a thug like manner of living that I just can't be that sympathetic to -- I mean this isn't a case of the kid stealing food to feed his family but cigars --bc he thought it was his right to walk in there and take whatever he wanted.
This makes no sense. You are still saying he deserved to be shot. Just like Trayvon deserved to be shot because he smoked pot, right?
No I'm not saying he deserved to be shot. The punishment for stealing $40 of goods should not be capital punishment. BUT the fact that he did steal makes me less sympathetic to him. The cops saw him as a thug and shot him. Guess what -- he WAS a thug as evidenced by the fact that he had stolen 10 min prior. How are cops supposed to distinguish the good from the bad when so many black men are out there acting like thugs?? Maybe the cop didn't want to risk his life by giving this guy the benefit of the doubt that he was unarmed. Maybe the fact that he didn't listen to instructions and had cigars in his hand was enough for that cop not to want to take that chance. Over zealous policing but honestly given the thug like culture that the majority of AAs subscribe to, these kinds of "mistakes" are going to happen.
Uh, what stigmatized racial group is below African-Americans from whom they can dissociate themselves in order to get whites to like them? #logicfailAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Actually, other racial ethnic groups, especially immigrants, know that blacks are the most stigmatized group in the US and they know they can climb the ladder by also distancing themselves from blacks. When the AAs become the true minority numbers-wise and have no allies on any side due to years of holding themselves out as the main victim minority, THEN they will really have something to worry about.
Seriously, if you want the dominant group to accept you, the last thing you would do is be friendly to the group they dislike the most.
This is what Asian immigrants do too! Look down on AAs and rise by quickly assimilating with the dominant white majority.
Why didn't/don't AAs do this then, too, to get a step ahead?
Yeah, that's what I was wondering about the rich, white kid who sexually assaulted my daughter. What did his parents teach him? That it was okay to treat another person that way? Or the other white kids at her school who drank and drugged way too much. What were their parents teaching them?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:As a black woman, this thread has been VERY interesting. What's even more funny is to see non-blacks arguing back and forth about what blacks do/don't discuss with their children, in their homes, in their churches, etc. What a joke. Do you know why you have these questions: BECAUSE YOU ARE AN OUTSIDER. BLACK PEOPLE AREN'T DISCUSSING WHAT THEY DO/SAY WITH YOU.
Since they reached the shores of Africa, whites have tried to understand (and them promptly crush/change) the motivation of black people. It's not happening. Forget going back to the days of Jim Crow when blacks knew their place. Yes, there is a subsection of the race who are fuck-ups. The same can be said for white people. And you don't have hundreds of years of oppression to use as an excuse, so what's your answer to why so many whites are fuck-ups?
Instead of worrying about what blacks are teaching our teens, how about you teach YOURS to stay out of the medicine cabinet?
But that's the point -- the world wonders what the hell you're teaching them because whatever it is IS NOT WORKING. So what are we left to assume -- that either you're saying nothing or whatever you're saying is horribly ineffective.
Nicely put, pp. Thanks.Anonymous wrote:As a black woman, this thread has been VERY interesting. If someone wants to assimilate, then that is their right. Who are you to tell them what to do and how to behave? The beauty of America is that people are allowed to be diverse. No one should be held into contempt for living their life the way that they see fit. If a black person doesn't want to associate with the black collective, then that is their choice to make. As long as people are living happy and productive lives that's all that matters. If you're not a blood relative, then you're not my people.
Einstein, the point is not that you are obligated to stay connected, but that you have the right to do so, if you choose.

You do realize the President is AA don't you? No doubt this is due in no small part to his ability to integrate into the culture of mainstream society and assimilate white culture without the contrasting experience of living in a predominantly minority community.
